Wow, there really is a lot of misinformation out there.

I've been a CL_ for what? A week or two? And I got my first "do you know
staff?" question a couple of days ago. Staff did not magically appear on
my friends list the minute I became a CL_.

I haven't asked any staff to be my friend, simply because I feel kind of
sheepish asking them now that I became a CL_ . Who knows? Maybe I'll
work up the courage soon.

I find it sad that the original player now doesn't trust ANY CL_ players
when it seems apparent that the player who scammed was clearly NOT
a CL_ but impersonating one.

Why do I want to become a CL. I have been trying since day one I think my application got lost in cyber space. First I like to befriend a new player and show them around. Also when I get say lots of pirate hats or other items I like to give a rarer item to new players to Welcome them to VMK. This used to be easy but would you believe I spent an hour looking for new players and trying to give away free pirate hats and I was only able to give away three. Most would ignore me or click to another room. I think CL is an honor and it should be a trusted position. And that Staff who choose CL's should know their reputation on VMK. There are enough VMK dicussion boards they read to see who has a good repetation.

As a leader, I want to put my 2 cents in. I once had a bad experience while assisting some people trading for a stitch hat. One person was on my friend list, but it was not someone that I saw that often. The second person was someone that I had never seen in VMK before, but I remember seeing their name on the boards.

During the trade, I was asked to hold the stitch hat. The stitch hat belonged to the person that I did not know. She traded the stitch hat to me, and then proceeded to trade with my friend. During the trade with my friend, she crashed. Because she was not on my friend list, I could not see when she was on again. She was also not on my friend's friend list either. I immediately went to staff to ask them to help me track this person down (this was before staff sat in blocked rooms). They were busy and all they could do is tell me she was not on at the time. I checked back with staff daily, hoping to find her. I found the girl on the boards and sent her several PM's, but she never responded. Finally after a week, she responded to my PM. She had been banned from VMK for a week and was mad so she did not go on the boards either. So finally after about a week & a half, we were able to get all parties involved together to complete the trade.

This was the worst trade experience I have ever had. I was so worried that someone would report me for scamming. I did nothing wrong, but worried that I would lose my CL title because of this problem trade. Because of this transaction, I rarely help out with trades. I will only help with trades if I know all parties involved very well. Another CL told me that they got an email from the "black hole" of VMK telling them not to assist others with trades. I never got this email, and most of the other CL friends that I have did not get this either. I did see this letter posted on another board for people to see.

So my advise here is to leave feedback on the CL that was involved with this trade. If they are caught scamming, they will lose their title. Another idea would be for everyone to write in to VMK and suggest that they allow unlimited items in trade windows instead of just 15. Maybe if they get enough people requesting it, they will make it happen.

Ok for anyone paranoid about trading after reading Mal's above post I think I would never want to be a go between. Too scary. I am just wondering when I see members in VMK walking around with 10 infernos how they could have ever got that many when I have never got one (Except for Lovethattink's son who is not playing VMK at the moment at letting me use it is beside my understanding.

I talked with Tink this morning and I hope she did not take what I said in the wrong way....I too had been wondering the same thing as you about how any one person could get so many infernos.
(not meaning Tink's son) I saw yesterday alone Two players with 6 infernos and green flips each. I asked Tink about her son because I thought from your post he had more than one,knowing that he used to trade a lot, I just wanted an opinion as to how multiple infernos could be obtained . I hope she did not take it the wrong way.

I know some can trade with quest items and obtain multiples that way and it is a benefit to live near a park and receive multiple quests items every 3 months but I still wonder when I see more than 5 on a player how they possibly get that much quest to trade for that many infernos.

I know from experience with certain players that being a staff suck up is a good way to get multiple infernos - I know for a fact that one person was given, without playing a game or anything, at least 4 infernos over a short period of time simply because he/she chatted often and hung out in staff rooms (and yes, this person IS a CL). I have been on VMK since day 1 and have never gotten an inferno, never, not once. And I always played those inferno games way back when. And then of course I would hear about the one person (read: stalker) who got 7 infernos in ONE WEEKS TIME from game rooms. But that is neiether here nor there. Dont trust anyone. Not CLs, not regular players - and CLs should heed this advise too, if you act as a go between, you might just get double scammed

Yes he did trade alot but even with his great ability to trade and he was awesome I must say. He only managed to get one inferno. Though he did get more than I think sparrow nad stitch.

Briar - The main reason players think we have instant access to staff is because of the few who talk about their relationship with staff all the time. I am always asked what staff I have on my list and my stock answer is: "I do not talk about who is or isn't on my list. Sorry."
If you think about the ratio of staff to CL's, there are a lot of CL's who DO NOT have any staff on their lists.
Feel free to throw your request out to staff. Some may accept, most will not. You may even have a staff member throw one at you, but that is less likely anymore.

Hi, Jazz! Precisely why I refuse to be the middleman in large trades with people I don't know well. I'm glad things turned out well for you, but you shouldn't have had to endure that.

I agree. The title is very misleading. Surprisingly, this thread has remained close to topic and everyone has refrained from blanket CL bashing. Woot Dis Peeps!

Unfortunately, this is true. Favoritism is rampant on vmk between some CL's, staff and even non-CL's. It's been true from day one.
Although I feel strongly that staff should be allowed to form friendships on the game, I also think that it should not be seen by other players. CL's hanging around staff bothers me, yet I see it all the time.

No scams, just trades, and all on forums. I also have friends who have more and have done so in the same manner.

I know there were no accusations, but let it be known people who do have more than 1 inferno are not necessarily scammers or gifted them.

I know you weren't Mal Just wanted some of the newer players to read that. They may have walked away from this thread thinking whenever they see more than 1 inferno, start thinking SCAMMER!

Hey I saw CL_LittleDragonErin trade for most of hers xD I went through 6 or 7 infernos 10 or 11 stitch hats and about 4 or 5 sparrow suits xD
