Kamy and I happened to spend our honeymoon at Dixie Landings which is now Riverside. I think that staying at the Contemporary would be the best bet for you on this trip but you should totally spend a future trip at Riverside. It is soooo nice and well themed.

Beano you got me started on the jar money. Thanks for the reminder that I had a reason for that ugly bottle in the corner. So today I get my son from school and took our jar money to the grocery store. We went to one of those coin star machines. We had almost 300 dollars but I didn't know the catch was 26 dollars of it was now theirs. For that I would have counted and rolled myself and had a few more sail away drinks. So I guess I learned my lesson. Count my own beans next time.

I have been told to drop dead by many Beano so your comment had absolutely no affect on me.

You know Beano, you are always offering to buy sailaway drinks. I want you to know Beano, even if you buy me a sailaway drink, I still may not like you. However, the more I drink, the better I am at pretending to like you. (just something to keep in mind).

You know, it is rather strange to be meeting people off the computer. Maybe we need a universal HELP signal just in case the person we are meeting is really, really weird. You know someone that would stick video cameras in your face while offering to buy you sailaway drinks and talking in different voices. YOu know, just in case there was some nut like that onboard.

In the doc's is states "Valuables, fragile items, baby-care or medical/healthe need items (e.g. liquids) must be transported inside of carry-on luggage." It also states"We regret that we are unable to accept checked luggage that contains fragile items, such as cameras, computer equipment or beverage containers."(page 6)

My plan is to stow mine (bottled H20) in a wheelable carry-on bag that fits the parameters. Somewhere else I saw it read no coolers.(page 8)

I am thinking they have a more strict policy than previous and there is a possibility my water may not make it on board. I will take my chances in lieu of spending $2.50 per bottle when I drink many per day.

We cruised two years ago, and we made a liquor store stop prior to boarding. So the drinks were just in plastic grocery store bags. The porters took them without batting an eyelash, and we asked if we needed to carry them on ourselves. They arrived at the cabin no problemo. I don't know if policies have changed regarding this topic in the past 2 years.

As for coolers, we bring a collapsible one in our luggage and use it in the cabin, stocked with ice for super-cold drinks. It works out great, and we can use the cooler on the way home as a small carry on.

I read a couple of threads where people just got back from September cruises and had no problem bringing beer on board. They were asked to cover the beer, by the porters, and given plastic bags in which to do so. I guess, they don't want everyone to know what you are doing.

With the cooler Lynne, can I check it or do I have to roll it on with me when we board? I would prefer to check the cooler and not have to worry about it.

Another question. When hubby drops us off at the terminal and then heads back with the rent-a-car, does he need his license AND birth certificate get back into the terminal or just his license? I was gonna keep his birth certificate and see if the CM would check us in with it. Anyone have any experience with this?

Again, this was two years ago...but when Ed dropped us off at the terminal, he just parked and then came in. There was no security to just enter the terminal. It's kinda set up like an airline terminal where you have curbside check-in - that's where the porters take your luggage. Then you enter from the outside (with just your carryons) and stand in line and wait for an agent's window to be open. Then after you get your paperwork completed with the agent, you go through the "passengers only" portal to the ship. I remember only needing the documentation for the check-in part at the counter.

As for the cooler, our collapsible cooler is about 10" square and 15" tall. No wheelies on it. So it folds and packs nicely in our luggage. But since yours has wheels, Rose, I guess you can check it. We checked all kinds of little things that the porter put on a cart that's a lot like a hotel bellboy's cart, with wheels and a rack and hooks. I also think a reason to put your liquor in bags is so that other people walking down the hallway prior to you entering your cabin don't feel suddenly very thirsty! If you know what I mean..... The hallway is just jammed with passengers' luggage stacked outside their doors.

I think I'm going to pack with Space Bags this time. I bought a set at Costco a couple of months ago and I want to try them.

Well I am back from another go-round with my cardiologist, and yet another new med!! So I should have a whole new list of lovely side effects kicking in by cruise time! LOL

This medication says "avoid alcohol". Yeah right! Good one.
