So I am planning and planning my heart out and was just wondering for all the AAA members on the board what is the total cost of the campsite that you have paid with the current discount trying to get a ball park figure i know they have not realeased the discounts for 2014 yet but just wondering .. Thanks

Here are the discounts by time of stay. – 10% off Peak season; 15% off Regular and Fall seasons; 20% off Value season, no discount for Holiday season.

When I went back in April to the Fort, it was after the Spring Break/Easter sky high rates so the prices were a little lower :rotfl: and I was in a Preferred site (loop 100).

The daily rack rate was $97/weekday and $102/weekend night. I got 15% off that on my AAA discount. That made the rates $82.45 and $86.70. Then you will pay 6% of THAT for Orange County Tourist Development Tax, another 6% for Florida State Accomodations Tax, and 0.5% for Orange County Accomodation Tax.

So for me the tax rate (12.5%) was almost the same as the discount rate (15%).

Hope this helps.

While we are on the topic of AAA...

With a room only reservation (well, site...), do you need to add the AAA discount to your reservation ahead of time, or can you take care of it when you pay the balance at check-in? I ask because my parents have reservations for January, and just got AAA. Should they call down and change their reservation?

Yes, they need to call and ask if AAA discount is available. It is applied (if available) at booking, but they'll need a valid AAA card when checking in.

Yes, don't wait till checkin.

There are only "so many" AAA discounts available per night. Say, 100 Premiums. Once those 100 people who have a Premium site reserved have used their AAA for the discount, the 101st AAA person who asks won't get one-it's not automatic. But nobody knows that the "magic number" is.

If it's not available when you book your ressie, call back occasionally and check again. I made a ressie for this past April 2013 back in September 2012 and no discount was available. But I kept checking and got one applied to my ressie in February 2013. Guess someone with a discount had cancelled their ressie.

For amylevan's folks, 2014 discounts are not available yet because 2014 rates have not been officially set yet. Once they are in the next month or two, then the discount might be available. If they made a ressie now it's held at the 2013 rates. Watch this board in the next two months for when 2014 rates are released - if you move right away on the discount your chances are better.

:welcome::welcome: FW is a great place to camp!

Glad you were able to get your AAA discount. Actually, we only get AAA so we can get our FW discount ;). It more than pays for itself as we usually go for 10 nights. We're letting ours lapse in July as we don't plan to go back to the Fort until possibly next year - some other trips on our agenda.

Have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

OP - here is our price - October 7-13 (2013) 6 nights, full-hookup campsite with AAA discount: $376.24

We just got back today from our first stay. Our AAA rate was $310.80 total for 3 nights, Thursday, Friday. Saturday. AAA rate was only available on premium sites when we booked.
