Attended My First Ever Rally Yesterday - SOS - Support Our Soldiers

It was advertised as not being a Pro-War Rally, it was simply a Pro-America and Support our Soldiers Rally. I walked around with my sign with Bobby's pictures on it - reading "WE LOVE OUR MARINE". They had a lot of different speakers, and a live country-western band.

I was totally in awe of all the people who were there - from elderly veterans to babies in strollers. Red/white/blue everywhere you looked. I've never been so proud!!

As I wandered around, looking for my friend (who's also a Marine Mom), a little elderly gentleman tapped me on the shoulder and I turned around to see the sweetest, smiling face. He was wearing a Korean War Veteran hat and asked if he could take a picture of my sign. Well, that was my first teary moment of the afternoon, along with when they sang the National Anthem, God Bless America, and Lee Greenwood's Proud to be an American.

Another highpoint was a "flyover" by a military plane. I took lots of pictures to send to Bobby, so he'll see the positive aspect of things. I know that via the media, if he's hearing anything - it's only negative.

Doesn't it make you feel so great inside to be able to do something like that? My son keeps asking me when we can go to another one, but I haven't heard of any more in our area.

I also wish the media would cover those kind of rally's instead of just the negative ones.If they do cover the support rally's it's a 3 second blurb at the end of the broadcast,after spending 20 minutes covering every detail of the anti-rally's.

How nice, Patty. There is so little we can really do to support our military right now, a rally sounds wonderful. Bless that veteran who wanted a picture of your sign.

I imagine Bobby will appreciate the photographs when he gets them.

Patty... I attending a Support our Soldiers rally myself in Mashpee, MA with my youngest daughter.. It was pretty powerful stuff and we were very vocal in our support of the troops.. lots of weeping as we sang all the songs and listened to this wonderful Vet from the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam... he was great.......also a US Marine was there and spoke as well as families of soldiers representing each branch of the service sitting on the stage..........Amazing boost for us to be there...

Good for you Patty!! That must have very up lifting to attend!! I'm sure Bobby will LOVE seeing the pictures of so many people supporting our Troops!!!

There are many in our country who are in support of our troops. I am so glad you were able to be among some of them and feel the support. And be able to share that with Bobby and his group.
