Okay, my husband I have been all the way through the resale process now. Made the offer, accepted, hiccup from the seller, problem fixed, transaction closed, and deed recorded. Waited patiently and received an email from my broker Monday morning, advising me Disney has transferred the account into our name, and providing the phone number. Not one person on line at Disney will give me my membership number - NOT ONE!! I've tried calling repeatedly, pressing 3, then 2, then 1, then 3 again. Called at different times of the day, no luck. All I get is "Sorry, but you'll have to wait for the letter. It should arrive in 3 to 4 weeks." Really? Snail mail in the 21st century? How embarrassing for them. And - 3 to 4 weeks? They must be using really old snails. How hard can it be for Disney to verify my identity? I've been on their website for years as an AP holder - they should know everything about me by now! I know I'm just being cranky at the moment (I'm frustrated), but think about it. I shop, bank, search online, and pop into everything Disney (with my I.D. verified), and it didn't take 4 weeks and a PAPER TRAIL to do it. It just screams "OUR TECH DEPT IS A DINOSAUR." :sad2:

I feel for you and hope you do not have to wait that long.:flower3:

I agree … resale is a waiting game over and over and over again.

But you do save a lot of money.::yes::

Unfortunately, this final wait for points to get into your account can be the most frustrating.

I hope you have some pixie dust come your way. pixiedust:

Your first lesson on how Disney really feels about you is a hard one to accept.

They could improve the process but IMO they want to punish us for buying resale. Direct buyers can often make a reservation on the day of purchase.

Disney views DVC as a cash cow if purchased direct, after purchase, DVC is a support function.

Many have been through this, you'll have to wait. And for resale, they do it that way purposefully as a sort of punishment.

OP It is frustrating, hang in there.

Existing members, this spring we had a surprisingly quick ROFR/closing/recording and receipt of the new membership number (a different UY). I had expected the process to take a good two months, but we did have to wait to receive the membership by mail.

You pay peanuts, you get elephants.

Anytime we've made a purchse (the original & 4 add-ons - all direct) we've had access within 24 hours at most. Why should they expedite service for your resale when they have so many direct buys? I understand the frustration but bottom line is resales are just not a priority for them.

Just remember how many thousand dollars you saved by purchasing resale. The inconvenience of a couple months of Disney-created delays will leave a ton of money in your pocket to cover your dues for many, many years to come.

I assure you that it is a small sacrifice to make for the savings. It seems like FOREVER when you're waiting 2-3 months to finish the resale process. But in the scheme of the total RTU of your timeshare interest, it is a tiny fraction of time inconvenience.

Every time you fret that it is taking entirely too long, log on to your bank's website and see your checking account balance. Then mentally deduct the amount extra that you would have paid for a direct purchase. You will feel completely better. Guaranteed.

Here's the good news, next resale purchase, f same UY, the points will be in your account before you get your snail mail letter...sometimes even the e-mail!

Welcome to the wonderful customer service of DVC. Last week I had a hold time of less than 30 minutes and I felt like I won the lottery

Just to be clear, how long after closing/recording did you call? It takes 10-14 days before your member ID is created, so there's nothing to give you until that happens. After 10 days, start calling and select option 3 for Member Accounting, and call each day until the information you need actually exists.

If you provided your SSN to your broker, DVC will use the last 4 digits as your pin/password. Often MS can give you access early if they have your SSN.
