Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

I dont like that it looks out of place on the shoreline. That area used to look pristine and wooded. Perfect vibe for FW. Now the current trend is to build up. The poly tower looks like a medical center. It is really out of place. LSL is better as it is a bit more spread out and not as tall, but still. I shudder to think of what will happen at BWV once it expires. Another tower on the lake? Compete for height with Swan and Dolphin?
Ok so I own at BLT, but that is a tower next to a tower. I guess I will wait until it is finished and see how it either blends into the scenery or not. As of now a hard nope.
It’s Disneys land we don’t get to decide how what they build fits with the scenery. I think the choice DVC has made to go with cheap materials and not grand luxury theming is sad but even with that I am happy there will be another DVC property to choose from. That is exciting. As a DVC owner there’s no way I would want them to stop building. VDH was stuck where it would fit and has terrible views from most rooms but it gives more options of places to stay while visiting, and getting a room at a Disney resort is what I signed up for. I didn’t sign up to preserve the land at WDW.

Is it?? We loved Aulani's, then tried SAB for the first time a couple months later and were suuuuper disappointed lol
Actually I think it was debunked that it will be bigger. It’s actually going to be much smaller than Aulani. I will see if I can find the post that shows the measurements in a bit.

I've never understood why all the various "period-in-time seaside resorts" are not generic, but I am clearly in the minority.

And frankly, I did not need more haole tiki vibe around the Lagoon, but again---I am clearly in the minority.
Same. I don’t love Poly or Beach Club theming but I’m very happy they both exist. BLT/Contemporary is just odd and totally like an airport to me, but again I’ve stayed more than once and Im very happy it’s an option.

Airport is such a good description of BLT/Contemporary. I've never quite been able to explain it other than a concrete jungle, but it definitely has the airport vibe.

I really couldn't imagine a world in which it would be bigger or more impressive than Aulani's.

Thanks! I could not find it. And here’s juliebees quote for the Aulani size. So LSL 633 vs Aulani 900. Still a chance if can be very cool with some water features.
According to Google, Aulani's lazy river is nearly 900 ft long, so this will be only about 2/3rd of the Aulani one. That is a bummer. I really enjoy the Aulani one and was hoping for similar.

2.5x the size of SAB sounds pretty impressive tbh. I hope they do something with the landscaping so that it's not just a concrete river-shaped pool.

Yes! I think they will do something great with it.
Borrowing @AstroBlasters recent photo all I see is PVB IT while it was being built 🤣

Yep. Seems like they may be in this every new place has to be the same mentality. Im sure it's to save money, only explanation. Still excited for it though.

Yeah I guess this is the DVC 4.0 layout? 🤔🤣

It's always nice to have more options and Riviera and PVB IT brought great dining options so I am curious to see what restaurants LSL will have. It's also a full cash & DVC resort so I am guessing we'll see a character meal, signature meal, regular TS meal, lounge, and QS!

To be fair, BLT/CR is the central transportation (airport) for connecting monorail resorts with the LSL/CFW/FW and WL/CCV/BRV.

Either have to have car or taking bus/monorail/boat to go between them. Transfer at MK (which can be busy like Atlanta airport) or CR/BLT. (At least when the boats are running between FW/WL/CR.

It sort of gives BLT the leg up as far as dining/shopping access for the resorts.

Im just saying you dont have to love every aspect of a DVC resort to be happy it's being built or that it exists.

Just going to note for you lazy river fans that if you haven't been to TL or BB, the lazy rivers there are 2,000 and 3,000 feet, respectively :-).
Aulani is my goldilocks lazy river really! Though I do appreciate the water park having it as a means to get around not on foot haha
