The Setup/Background/Lowdown on my trip.
Cast: Unclekyle, age 21 and dead sexy.
Supporting Role: Kyle's friend Laura, she's super cool. Kelly, the girl Kyle is staying with but he never see's her.
For those who didnt see on the Community Board, I decided on a whim to take a little road trip to Disney World. This was decided on a Sunday night and I left the next morning. Im a former Walt Disney World College programmer and I havent been back since I left the program in December. I have a few friends down there that I can stay with so I packed up, called them, and headed out the door with only 80 bucks in my pocket and a ton of CDs to listen too. The drive is listed as 13 hours from where I live but I made it in 11 hours. I got there Monday night and spent the night with one of my CP friends named Kelly. She was excited to see me and couldnt wait to do stuff but little did I know that I would rarely see her the next few days.
Tuesday:
I woke up around 10:30 (yeah Im in college) and got ready to head to the parks. Kelly was off that day but she is moving back home in a few days so she had stuff to take care of. I wouldn't see her again till the following morning when I woke up. Oh well, I wasn't here to see her anyway.
Apparently it had been raining in Orlando for the last two weeks, so I wasnt prepared for the rain to come that day. When I woke up it was nice and sunny with that wonderful Florida humidity. Dont you just love that? Nothing like stepping outside after a nice warm shower and you start to sweat within five minutes. I had planned on going to the Studios and visiting some of my old co workers. I worked there last fall as a merchandise host. My area was Indiana Jones, Star Tours and all in between. I miss some of my co workers and two of my old bosses. Although I never cared for the job much I still miss who I worked with. I drove over there and as I got into the parking lot I reminded myself that it was summer not last fall. You see, when I was there last fall there was no such thing as crowds, especially after September 11th. So as I pulled up and noticed the parking lot I realized that my trip was not going to involve many rides. After not having to wait for anything as a CM, I wont wait longer than 30 minutes for any ride now. Besides Im going back in a couple of months when there wont be any lines. I headed towards Star Tours and I ran into a lot of my co workers. It was great to see them again and they were all shocked too see me. I didnt stay long visiting anyone because they were pretty busy and sadly I got so busy on my trip that I never made it back to say bye to them. But I figure Ill see them in Sept. After I visited I wandered over to RnR for a fast pass. It was 12:30 and the return time was for 2:30. I grabbed one and figured Id use it later on in the week. I then roamed around the park and just kind of took everything in. I miss working their so much now. I of course got my favorite food, the Disney Popcorn and wandered around New York Street and the back lot area. Next up was Walt Disney, One Mans Dream. I love this exhibit so I made sure I saw it on this trip. By now I was sick of the crowd so I left for Epcot.
I parked at a secret place near the Boardwalk and hiked over to Epcot. Well about this time here comes this famous rain everyone has been talking about. It poured and poured and poured. So I ran and jumped on the Friendship boat that I thought was heading to Epcot. Well after I got on they announced that they were heading to MGM. So when they stopped off at the Yacht and Beach club I jumped off and ran for the hotel to find a gift shop. In the process I soaked every inch of my clothing and my socks and shoes. In the gift shop I forked over my life savings for an umbrella then proceeded to wade though the water to get to Epcot. Arriving at Epcot the rain was easing up so I headed over to the American Pavilion to see my favorite show, American Vibe. If you havent caught this act they are awesome! They are a accapella group and I could listen to them sing all day long. I caught the end of their act so I planned on coming back to see them again. Now I started threading my way through the countries to get to Test Track so I could find my friend Laura who works their. She was no where to be found at the front of the line and I was not about to wait an hour and a half so I walked around Innoventions looking for the new Segway exhibit. I wandered my way back to the American Pavilion to see American Vibe and I was in for a treat. They sang some of my favorite songs then did one of the best renditions of America the Beautiful that I have ever heard. It was great and worth the walk on my sore soggy feet.
As soon as I walked out of the show my phone rang and it was my friend Laura. She had just gotten off of work and we decided to meet over by test track. By now the rain was gone and they had started the ride up again. When I got over there the stand by line was 90 minutes and the fast pass line was 35! But luckily I didnt have to wait at all ..it pays to be a former CM
After the ride we wandered through the countries and ate at Mexico which was awful! I never remember the food being that bad there; I would have preferred Taco Bell! After supper we both headed home to get ready to go out that night. Jellyrolls is one of my old hangouts and I missed it terribly. So we got there that night around 10 and didnt leave till they closed. I dont remember all of it but it was fun. Two of my favorite piano players were playing that night so I was loving the music and the booze was going down good as well. That ends my day of fun, it was crowded but otherwise a good day at the World.
Recap: I know the crowds could have been worse but Im used to going when no line is longer then 30 minutes. I hate crowds! Never eat at Mexico counter service again, dont forget my umbrella, and make sure I catch American Vibe more than once because the songs change everytime! Up next, Magic Kingdom and Ohanas!!!!!!
