Which do you prefer--DVC like OKW-SSR-or those attached to existing resorts like VWL-BCV-BWV?
BWV may not be attached but is in a congested area. **
I like the stand alones as they are easier as far as parking and getting to your room. Less congested also. I think that is why OKW remains so popular.

**PS- I didn't even know BWV are attached to anything--have only been over there once for the tour-many moons ago.
;)

I like the condo community theme of OKW, along with the ability to park right outside your room. I'm willing to forgo some amenties, like valet parking and room service for that priviledge. If I were to stay at an "attached" resort, though, I could certainly understnd the "need" for valet parking and the convenience of room service from the associated restaurants.

I like the choice of both. Sometimes I like the quiet of OKW, sometimes I like the "middle of it all" at BWV.

condo vs corrider/valet or drive-up is not important to us - the theme of the resort is - we love okw and vwl because of the atmoshpere at those properties - we live on the jersey shore so we have all we want of boardwalk and victorian living all year long! :flower: drive-up at okw is convenient but i think valet at other resorts is luxury! i love the feeling of driving up to a resort and having the car whisked away or someone else retrieving my car and opening doors for me! that's livin' in a style to which i would like to be accustomed!

I like the stand alone DVC, it seems to be more relaxed, but, it is nice to have the option. :cool1:

We prefer the attached to resorts so we can take advantage of what is offered. Like valet parking and indoor halls. When we stayed at SSR - DH got caught in a downpour on his way back to the room from the gym and nearly drowned my bagel & coffee!

I am with Debbie I like them both.

but I dearly love room service....

OKW and SSR will only be 3 Stars with AAA before room service is not being offered.

for a relaxing don't want to be bother vacation - OKW can't be beat.

for easy access to the parks - BCV, BWV and VWL can't be beat (at their parks).

I like the convience at both VWl and BCV to be able to get to a restuarant with out getting wet in the rain.

This is the reason why we love DVC so much. The theming at all the resorts is so different, and the vacation experience is set by the resort IMHO. So even though we are visiting WDW and loving it, the tone of the vacation can be different with each visit. Our family loves different things about each resort, which is why we have such a hard time choosing a favorite resort. We have 3 home resorts and the big question with each reservation is "Where should we stay?" It takes us several hours/days to come to a decision. :flower:

I prefer the standalone resorts. I like to have a place to go that's sort of a refuge from the bustle of WDW. OKW's our favorite, because of this and also because the rooms are so big.

We haven't stayed at BCV yet, but we don't care much for BWV, even though we own there. When I;m on vacation I like to relax at least part of the time, and I never seem to be able to do that at BWV.

But WLV isn't far behind OKW. It is attached to the main resort, but it's very quiet there. You get the best of both worlds, because when you want bustle it's a short walk away. If the rooms were OKW-sized it'd probably be #1 for us.

Location, location, location. To us the standalone/attached discussion is moot.

We prefer BCV because of its proximity to Epcot, MGM and The Boardwalk....

We really prefer the stand-alone resorts SSR & OKW; we like the spread-out nature of the properties, the convenience of at-the-door parking and the peace and quiet / away from the crowds atmosphere. When we want a hotel-type resort with interior corridors, valet parking and lots of attached dining & shopping, we go to Las Vegas, where they really know how to do it right.

Exactly. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I haven't stayed at BWV but I sure thought it was attached to BWI. Don't they share the same lobby?

Anyway, for us it is the whole package. BCV is our favorite because of the proximity to Epcot, amenities of a hotel including room service, many other dining options, convenient parking and peaceful atmosphere.

Yeah, what he said.

I like the gift shops at the standalone resorts better because they offer more DVC merchandise. But hey, I can always visit those from BWV. :teeth:

I LOVE the Boardwalk theming... I never notice the BWI side (yes, they are attached) because the lobby is on the DVC side and "Welcome Home" is all over the place and it just makes me feel all tingly inside! :goodvibes Sigh.

My vote is for the attached properties. I want more of the luxury hotel like resort feel rather than the condo like atmosphere of OKW & SSR. I can stay at far nicer condos for far less if that is what I want. BCV are my favorite for now.

I like the stand alones, especially OKW. You don't have to walk down those Looonnggg hallways to get to your room.

Plus, the rooms are sooo much bigger at OKW, plenty of room to spread out. That's luxury in itself. The attached ones just kind of feel like a hotel, but they are much nicer than most.

I love the stand alones - I really like being able to drive right up and leave my car right there! I'm not really into the valet and belhop thing! Not with groceries anyway!
However - I do wish OKW and SSR had room service - that would make them absolutely my #1's and I would have no desire to stay anywhere else!

We LOVE VWL, but we never have a car on vacation. I could definitely see the appeal of OKW and SSR if you have a car. Parking right at your door would be a real asset.

When we go on vacation we want something that is more than what we have at home. We want luxury and pampering. We do not want to cook, park cars, carry bags, walk up stairs etc. We want to be spoiled and waited on. We are like this about wherever we vacation, not just at WDW. When we pick a hotel the location and amenitites are always a big consideration. We almost always go for the top level hotel and stay in their top level accomondations. We will stay a few days at a hotel/resort without all the luxury amenitites, but for a true vacation of any length. it is luxury resorts all the way for us. This includes DVC resorts, so needless to say we prefer DVC resorts that offer the whole package. We like all WDW resorts but prefer the deluxe resorts and the DVC resorts that are associated with a deluxe resort.
The condo DVC resorts are just that, you are staying in a condo. As another poster said, if we wanted to stay in a condo there are many condo rentals that are a lot nicer, much larger, much cheaper and are approx the same driving time to WDW's parks and attractions, as the condo DVC resorts are.
