ATT class action lawsuit

We found out ATT was doing this when I "upgraded" to the Express speed. They had me at 1/2 the basic speed without me knowing, and when I upgraded they uncapped me up to full basic speed (but charged me for Express).

I'm ineligible, though, because they came clean, gave me a credit for previous wrongs, and I now receive a monthly credit because of the cap.

Thanks for posting this, I was meaning to file. We've had AT&T DSL service for 10 years, that could be a signifigant check!:wizard:

I don't know if it's worth it for 80$... and it would likely go to my grandmother as she was the primary for the line.

I have no idea what speed I was supposed to get, over how fast it went. My computer wasn't that great. But it was a huge improvement over having AOL...

don't get your hopes up for any money compensation. I have been involved in several class action suits and have never received any monetary reward.

the class actions Cann was referring too are a different breed of animal than this class action. No one was hurt or caused possible health issues from the action of the company.

usually you get discount vouchers or some other form of compensation.

With an airline class action we received vouchers for $25 off full fare tickets, really not worth the paper they were printed on since discounts available were worth more than the $25 off.

After having been involved with several class actions, I usually just opt out since not worth the time or trouble of giving them personal info.

Just saw this:
The details in the settlement page say that you might get back $2.00/month that they determine your speed was something lower than what they told you it would be. Or if they determine something else, you MIGHT get back $2.90 per month. Or if they determine that they owe you nothing, they will give you $2.00 TOTAL for becoming part of the class action suit. :sad2:

that is more like what I have experienced with class actions suits and I will not be joining this suit, even though we do have ATT high speed internet now and have had it for 10 years. $2 a month is not worth me giving them what I feel is personal info not necessary to determine whether I qualify for this action.

The most you can hope for, if you had ATT for the last 10 years, is around $350 which is $2.90 a month for 12 month for 10 years if they deem you did not have speeds you were paying for, they will determine how many months out of that term they feel you did not.

well, as I worked for SBC/ATT for nearly 23 years, they ALREADY have all my personal info. And I did join the suit...I paid for their service for a long time and it was inferior.

Sad to say, huh?

"Pennies for the victim" isn't always the case..

It's the case enough of the time for me to not waste mine just so some lawyer can buy a sports team while I get some stupid certificate good for a discount on a service I wouldn't want anyway.

Thanks. I just filed for my Mom. She cancelled her DSL service from AT&T last week and went with Verizon. She's paying the same amount for faster service. I always knew her DSL wasn't as fast as it should have been. I hope she can get something out of this.
