Atlantis - water shoes?

Hi there,

We are likely going to go to Atlantis in Bahamas, are water shoes a must? Some water parks we have been to we really feel like we need them or our feet get burnt/torn up. Is Atlantis like that? Are they allowed on the water slides? Would you recommend wearing water shoes? Or just flip flops and leaving them somewhere?

The paths get quite hot. Water shoes or flip-flops are a very good idea. They do allow them on the slides if they don't have any metal on them.

We just went last week (July 21st) and the sun baked paths cooked our feet every time we took our water shoes off - the answer is YES, bring suntan lotion and water shoes (and flipflops aren't allowed on the slides!)

the bigger issue is if you take them to the slide..and take them off...often the "exit" is not anywhere near where you left...so it's a challenge..where to leave them. Especially if you takethe rapid ride....it could drop you off at the other end of the place!

It's possible certain body slides may make you take off your shoes or flip-flops, but you could easily hold them. We wore water shoes on the Rapids and tube slides and we saw many other people do the same. Atlantis recommends water shoes or sandals because of their hot decks:

"Beach, sand, and deck surfaces may be hot. Wearing shoes, sandals or "aqua socks" is strongly recommended, especially for children of all ages"

They do say that nothing is allowed with metal buckles or decorations, so if you had metal bits on your sandals they might ask you to remove them.
