If you have stayed at the Atlantis in the Bahamas...please tell me about it! What part of the hotel did you stay in...Royal Towers, Beach, Coral????? I hear conflicting stories about this place and I don't want to spend a lot of money and be disappointed. I can only go during busy seasons (school vacations) so I know it will be busy....but how do they handle that????? Is it a rip off or is it great????

Anyone ever do Club Level???? Dining??? Please tell me everything!!!???

Or...do you know a board that discusses the experiences of The Atlantis???

Thanks all!!!

I went this past March with a friend who was going for work (her dh couldn't make it- lucky for me!!!) We stayed in the Royal Towers. I absolutely loved it and would like to go back with my family. I think the prices are comparable to a deluxe Disney hotel, which isn't a problem, but airfare for 4 tops $2,000, and it is much cheaper for us to fly to Florida! I loved the hotel room, atmosphere, water slides, and food but wasn't impressed with the spa/salon (overpriced and subpar). My ATM card wouldn't work there so I didn't do any gambling. If you have Cingular, you can get a signal there, and it's around $2.50 a minute, which is better than having to deal with $3 to use a calling card, or calling collect. We had booked a snorkeling excursion one day that was cancelled because half of the people that booked it didn't show up.

We were there during spring break and it really didn't seem that crowded.

For food, all our our dinners were catered since it was a corporate event, but we ate breakfast at the buffet. I thought it was pretty extensive, and all very good for buffet food. Oh, and there is a Starbucks. :)

This was my first trip to the Caribbean and I was just wowed with how beautiful it all was! We were only there 4 days, so never had time to go off of the Atlantis property.

We were there last summer and the crowds were out of control. The slide lines were 1 hour plus, you had to wait in line for just about everything and lounge chairs were almost impossible to find.

Six years ago it was much better. Maintenance is certainly not a priority anymore. The lagoons, pool and the facilities in general were dirty and run down. We harvested bags full of garbage out of the snorkel lagoon. :crazy2:

I would choose just about any other destination over Atlantis.

We were there in June and had a great visit. Our DDs really enjoyed the waterslides and water parks. Our room was in the Royal Tower and it was nice. However they are doing a lot of construction around the resort and the view from our window was of a major construction project but we didn't pay for a particular view so I can't really complain about that. The food was good but VERY expensive IMO. We ate some meals outside of the resort as well which kept the price of food down.

All in all, it was a nice family vacation but I doubt we'd return. :sunny:

We spent the day there while on a Disney Cruise....

I was NOT that impressed with the slides.
As many have pointed out - the money would be better spent to visit a Disney water park. Many of the slides were older. They were not the kind that have the glide-stop... Some actually dump you into fairly deep water.

I also was not that impressed with the beach. It has a very steep drop-off and some high surf. No way were we comfortable getting into the water. Especially with DS. The place is huge. You can walk your feet off!!! We walked all the way to the beach, and it is not 'inviting' with rows of beach chairs set up, etc... Then, we stood there in the sun in 95' heat FOREVER waiting for a beach attendant, who was ready and willing and able and expecting to recieve big tips for issuing you a beach chair. We turned around and left and went back to the pools.

The landscaping and the pools are what are VERY nice!!! Just incredible!!!

For the same money, I would consider many other resorts.

It really seems like a crap shoot! Some people think its great while others seem to have had terrible experiences!!! I mean waiting 1 hour for the pool slide........geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please keep the comments coming. The disparity (sp?) of experiences is really something! I am thinking we should stay somewhere else and visit there for a day. I have read you can pay a per day price.

Thanks..keep em' coming!!!!
