Has anyone done the DCL Atlantis Beach Break, where you get beach chairs, lunch, and can view the marine habitat and the rest of the hotel?

How was it, and would it be good for a 3 year old and 5 year old? I am trying to compare it to Blue Lagoon, which I heard was nice too. I would love to see the Atlantis hotel though.

Thanks!

We went on what was called the Atlantis Beach Day in April of '01. We did not take our children who were then 8 and 4. We enjoyed the excursion very much but there was a lot of walking. You walk off the boat to a water ferry/boat. The ferry takes you to Paradise Island. You walk from the ferry dock to Atlantis; not a short walk but very nice as it went around the marina. Once in Atlantis you walk through the hotel, out through the pool area to the beach. Again, not a short walk. The beach was very nice although the day we were there the surf seemed rough. We also were not allowed to use the pools. We were allowed to leave when we wanted. They just gave us guidelines/times for the ferry and a voucher. The lunch was at the snackbar and was good; hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, french fries, etc. You also get admission into the Atlantis aquarium which was really neat. You can walk through yourself. We enjoyed seeing the hotel very much. It is really something although I am not sure if I would ever go there for a vacation. I would consider going on this excursion again if I am ever on the Wonder again.

You can call the Excursion number and ask them for the details for this trip to see if it is the same. Again I went in 2001. If it is the same or similar it is a lot of walking and my husband and I both commented on the fact that we were glad we did not have our 4 year old with us. If you do decide to take the kids make sure they have walking shoes on. I felt sorry for some of the kids and adults who had on flipflops. If you have a stroller for the three year old take that too.

Hope this helps. Let me know if anymore questions.

Do you need water shoes in the surf, or is the sand smooth? What did you bring with you out to atlantis? Is there a place to change? Shower? or should you tour the aquarium before swimming? We were looking at the atlantis web site, which beach or area do they put you on? or can you go to any, as long as you don't use the pools?

Thanks, MKY princess:

Again I went on this exc. in April '01 so I would confirm any details with DCL. If they don't know the answers to your questions, they will get them for you I'm sure.

We did not go in the water but I probably would wear sand shoes (we do all the time in the ocean). The beach sand is very nice; course but not too course. I believe you could use the showers by the pool areas. I don't know about indoor showers. My guess is there is a place to change by the pools. We did not change to go back to ship and just used the bathroom in one of the lobby areas before leaving Atlantis. We did the aquarium on our way out; but we were not that sandy. We also walked through the casino. We had shorts and tops on over our bathing suits.

I would bring whatever you normally take to the beach; it is truly a day at the beach. The excursion went to a main part of the Atlantis beach. I don't know the name; it appeared to be one long beach. The resort area is absolutely huge.

Hope this helps.

We did the Atlantic excursion in April 2002. We would not do it again. The surf was very rough, too rough even for the adults to use the water. You were tossed around and dragged through the sand. When you came out you were all sand, even under the bathing suit. Finally they said we could go over to the other side that was only for Atlantis paying guest and use that water, but not the chairs over there. There was a lot of walking just to get to the beach where the surf is too rough. I have heard good things about the Blue Lagoon. We had a 13 yr, 11 yr and 9 yr.

I would reconsider before booking.
