I am thoroughly confused by the Florida toll calculator... has anyone done this drive? Can you remember approx how much the tolls were on the 75 --> toll road (429?) route? Must we have exact change in quarters, or simply any form of cash?

Also, my husband is wanting to take 27 or 4 instead, anyone have experience with these routes? We'll be arriving in Orlando on Sunday afternoon if that makes a difference?

Thanks in advance!

I can't remember how much the tolls were. But I will say that coming from I-75, they were more than worth it. 429 is very nice and uncrowded. Be sure to take Western Way off 429.

Taking I-4 on a Sunday wouldn't be too bad, but I think it's out of the way, compared to using 429, from I-75 and the Florida Turnpike.

I would STRONGLY recommend against Highway 27. That is the same highway that goes parallel to I-75 all the way through multiple states (it's even the main highway through my town in Kentucky). Highway 27, in any town of more than 5,000 people is normally clogged with stoplights and congestion. Orlando is no exception. I once had to ride in the backseat of a car my dad was driving in the early 70's on Highway 27 most of the way to WDW because I-75 was not completed through Georgia (I think). Dad said it would be fun to take the "scenic" route. It was neither scenic nor fun. If you want to go shopping, 27 is fine. If you want to get anywhere quickly, not so much.

Thanks, Grimley! Now to convince the husband that the tolls will be worth it...

I don't remember how much the tolls were, but we left Indiana with $10 in quarters and still had plenty left when we got home.

You really, really want to take I-75.

The tolls are less than $10 round trip.
My cheapskate dd wanted to go the 'scenic route' one year to avoid the tolls. It took a good bit longer and lots of stop & go traffic. We did ok on the way there but missed a turn on the way out & went way off route, lol.
I told her from then on I would gladly pay the tolls so she wouldn't have to worry about it!
