Aloha! A few questions if anyone can help?

1. Does everyone use the K-stix? I've had slow loss since Jan but have never used stix. Would they help?

2. Is there a good, inexpensive scale you use? I don't have one at all. Would it help or hurt?

3. I am AMAZED at how much many of you have lost and so quickly. I've only lost 15 since Jan and have stayed on program MOST of the time (went to WDW in June!):D Now I'm not losing (according to my clothes) at all and am still on program.
So are you exercise demons? I confess to being addicted to these boards and NOT exercising (though I'm going to pop in a walking vid right now!)

I'm 50, DS is 17 (and I still have 'baby fat'), five foot short, and down to 142-with clothes on. Would like to reach 120 and stay there!

1. As for the Keto Sticks...do they help you lose weight? NO..do they tell you if you are burning fat...yes. I use them as a "guide" to see if I have a "low" enough carb consumption and being in Ketosis = fat burning...and that is where I like to be when I workout. Should you get them??? If you want to use them as a guide on how you are metabolizing fat, than yes.

2. My scale STINKS...I think it weighs me 4lbs heavier than all the other scales in the world..but I just use it as a guide also. I would buy a moderate priced one...and as long as its consistant..it should be okay. (other's really have some good scales)

3. YES!!!! I exercise!!! Not because I like it, but because being on Atkins, I figured out that you really "shrink" if you exercise...even just a little. I hated to anything...but coming to these boards everyday really game me the determination to do it. Set mini goals for yourself. You don't have to go from nothing to "Jane Fonda" overnight. Do what YOU like and what feels right for YOU!! Even if that is just walking around the block for 15 mins 3 or 4 nights a week. Someone VERY wise on these boards once said to me...."do you ever see a really overweight person exercising reguarly??" Good point huh? It will really help with losses.

4. NOW THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!!! MEASURE YOURSELF!!! I did not believe this one...BUT this has been the BIGGEST SUCCESS I have had!!! If Katholyn would not have PUSHED me (and it almost left a bruise...lol), to measure myself...I would have given up A LONG LONG time ago. My weight loss has been SLOW!!! BUT my inches loss keeps going and going!!!

HTH...sorry for the long post...

Tracy

Hi, I've never used the stix and hate the scale. I know I have lost because of my clothes but it is not going fast enough. I started Atkins in March but have had a lot of not very good days. I have a hard time finding time for exercise though I love to exercise. I'm leaving for WDW on 10/5 and would love to be 15 lbs lighter. Last week I gained 1/2 lb, I do get on the scale once per week. This week I have had a sinus infection and have felt awful and not paid attention to eating healthy. The amount of lbs lost from others on these boards is amazing and I think about it often, if they can do it I can do it and so can you.

Aloha! Thanks for the tips, Tracy, and the great welcome also!

I just WALKED 2 mi--First time in months!!;)

I will buy a scale & the stix. Measuring myself is scary...but I'll do it!!

And meme...I went to WDW in June...I was 15 lbs lighter than most prior years...It felt TIGGERIFIC!! My clothes weren't tight, even after the buffets ;) , I felt better in a bathing suit, and was not paranoid that my son might snap a pix of my walking down Main Street AWAY from the camera;) .

So hang in there. Have you tried the Atkins Advantage bars? I am a major carb addict. These are my lifeline...when hungry or when I still had cravings at the start, I would have 1/2 with a lot of water to drink..they filled me up, satisfied cravings, and were a great treat to get me to my next protein heavy meal.

Hello there,

I can't help you with ? #1 because I am on WW's.

2. Is there a good, inexpensive scale you use? I don't have one at all. Would it help or hurt?
I get weighed in at WW's officially on Monday nights, but I do have a digital scale at home. I do find it helpful to keep on track but it really depends on if you let it bother you or not. Some people do better only getting the official weigh in.

3. I am AMAZED at how much many of you have lost and so quickly. I've only lost 15 since Jan and have stayed on program MOST of the time (went to WDW in June!) Now I'm not losing (according to my clothes) at all and am still on program.

I walk occasionally, but not how I should be. I also have the Walk away the pounds tape, but I haven't used them faithfully in a while. I still have lost weight though. I do plan on really focusing on my exercising soon. I believe it is definately important, and something I do want to do. I also want to encourage my kids to exercise more.

I am not on Atkins, but I can offer my opinion on this question! :teeth: I purchased a Tanita scale and love it!! It is digital. The basic model starts @ $40 but I found mine on clearance at Sports Authority.
