Okay, I don't have a lot of details but my co-worker just told me that his neighbor's dog died from eating three Atkins Bars.

The neighbor, her kids, and the dog were visiting another neighbor. The dog was snooping around and they found him in the midst of eating the Atkin's Bars. They determined he had eaten three of them. Shortly after that he became ill and was very thirsty. They put him at the vet and he was on IV fluids for 3 days and finally died. I don't know what is in an Atkin's Bar but I don't think this was your typical dog/chocolate reaction. Sorry I don't have anymore details but I just wanted to warn those who may have dogs and Atkin's Bars in the house.

If it wasn't chocolate, I can't imagine what would have done this! Poor pooch.

That's awful.

I'd be curious to know what kind of bar it was. I have read that grapes & raisins can be toxic to dogs, and it can take as few as 6. I've never had an Atkins bar, but some bars may contain raisins in them. I don't know - just a thought. Let us know if you find out anything.

My Mom's Boxer once had an allergic reaction to peppermint & had to be rushed to the vet on a Sunday, she would've died from internal hives closing off air flow.
