At what age do you take kids to pro sporting events?

I went to my first NYG game when I was 8. I stayed pretty close to my dad, though. I still do, six years later.

You are my kind of gal!!! My DS went to his 1st Flyers game in utero....then when he was about 3 weeks old. We take him all the time, he is just a sports freak like his Mom and Dad...during hockey season, his first words in the AM are "Mommy, did the Flyers win or lose last night?" He and DH are going to the Blue Rocks game on Sunday so Mom can get the house in order...and finish packing for Disney!

Hey, I forgot about that, my dd went in utero as well!!

In fact, I remember one playoff game when I was about 5 months pregnant, after our team scored the winning goal in overtime, she was doing backflips, and dh and I knew she'd be a fan!

She's almost 10 now, and the same as your son, always needing to know the score and poring over each issue of The Hockey News as soon as it arrives!

I went to my first NBA game at 3. High School football game at 4. Concert at 6.

My four sons have all been going to MLB games since they were born basically, certainly by the time they were 1 year old. Same was true for minor league hockey when we had a minor league hockey team here in town.

My three oldest sons went to their first NFL games when they were 7 -- DS6 will most likely get to next Fall (Fall 2008) after he's played a season of flag football this Fall and maybe another in the Spring -- football tickets are so expensive I like for them to at least somewhat understand what is going on.

My oldest son went to his first Nascar Truck and Indy Car races at 14 and my second oldest is going to his first Nascar stock car race this month at age 12.

The area matters. I would think outside of bleachers and bad sections, any age is fine as long as we are not talking about Oakland or Philadelphia.

My boys have been going to NHL games since the ripe old age of about 2 months - (we're season ticket holders) - we've also gone to our minor league baseball games. They love it!!!

We started taking DD (who is now 8) to the Atlanta Thrashers hockey games when she was btwn 4-5. DS has also gone a couple of times and he was 4 at the time.
