At What Age did you Do WDW without a stroller?

We are going in March and our kiddos will be 7 and 5 (he will turn 5 just days before we leave) and we decided against taking a stroller.

Last time we went they were 4 and 22 months and we HAD to take a double-stroller. It was necessary, but what a pain to lug it around!

We expect the kids will get tired, but are planning for it accordingly with lots of plans to take breaks by having snacks or catching one of the shows offered at the parks throughout the day.

I'm a serious runner (I'll be in training for a marathon during our March 2010 vacation) and I figure I'll have tired legs, too, since some mornings I'll be up to run up to 10 miles before we even leave for the parks for the day. I might need a stroller! LOL!

In all seriousness, though, my kids and I walk a lot. To school & back from our house is a mile on the nose and we walk that 2x a day. I'm going to make sure my kids have good quality tennis shoes to wear while we're at Disney.....that alone can make your feet feel 100% better.

We quit when our youngest turned 5. We LOVE not having a stroller, it is so much easier to get around, especially when it is crowded. We have really cut down on what we carry too, so we don't miss it for holding stuff.

I think 4 or 5 will be our cut off age. We are taking an umbrella stroller for DS this time. He is 4 but when he sees his sister riding and it is late in the day and he is tired, I am sure he would want to ride. We may not use it all the time but it only cost us $7 (consignment sale) so no real money lost if we don't need it.

I like strollers, not only for tired kids but for all the stuff we haul around and to keep the kids near us in a crowd. We're going next year w/ a 7 YO and I'll be taking our Volo for him.

My DD hasn't used a stroller since turning 5. Now her little brother is 5 and I don't want to give up the stroller b/c of the storage space!!!! On our next trip even though I know he will walk quite a bit, I'll bring it for storage and whichever kid needs a sit down break.

My daughter is 4 and we are still taking the umbrella stroller for her. She is bound to tucker out at some point and it makes it easier getting out of the park too. We also rent a stroller at WDW. Those things are awesome! She'll most likely be 6 next time we go so we will see how she is then.

I would bring a stroller for the younger one. They do get tired and I would not want to pay the rental fee or have to carry a child.

If you don't have one, check out some second hand stores or craigslist and see if you can find one at a good price.

You don't have to take the stroller to every ride. You can just park it in Fantasyland while you are in that area and when you want to move to another area pick it up along the way.

Last trip, DD was 5 and DS was 3 - we took two Maclaren volos, and we were so, so glad that we did. Storage space plus walking back out of the parks at the end of a long day... we were so glad we had them.

Now, they are 7 and 5.... and we're not sure what to do!!! I've been known to drag a stroller to malls and airports simply to use as a luggage cart. I made a rule "no kids in the stroller" and just use it for heavy carry-ons. So... I guess I"ll probably still take at least one Maclaren volo on our next trip to WDW in April. I'll try leaving it in the room on the first day, and if it's a disaster I'll bring it to the parks on day 2.

Once you stop bringing the stroller you really look at what you are hauling with you and realize you don't actually need or use half of it!! If you need a stroller to carry your stuff you have too much stuff. It isn't the wilderness! Get rid of the stroller and most of the "stuff" and you will have such a freeing day you'll be over joyed.

My DD last used a stroller regularly when she was 6. We then used one for evenings only for another 1-2 years since my DD is the kind of kid who goes-goes-goes until she crashes (even with a afternoon rest). We then used a stroller just for New Year's Eve night up to last year when she was 9 and way too big for it :lmao:. No stroller this year :thumbsup2.
