At WDW now. Best $10 I've spent in a while...

This is wonderful; thanks for sharing.

I'm going to start setting aside some $$s to do the same next month!

Let's start spreading some pixie dust to those who sweep up our dust after we leave!

:goodvibesI was just thinking the exact same thing! I'm going to start an envelope to put $10 bills in to take on our next trip.

This idea touches my heart. I am going to do this as well. The last couple of times I have been there I have made it a point to go up to the front desk and tell them I appreciate how much they do. I have seen several guests chewing out the front desk staff and know it can't be easy. I have found so many nice people working at Disney. There are small cards you can fill out if a cm has done something you feel you want recognized. It's a nice way to say thanks. My mother needed a lighted mirror and we didn't have one in our room. (We were in Poly and that type of mirror is in GF) Staff made sure and brought one over for us. It meant so much to her. It doesn't hurt to add our own "pixie dust" to the magic.

What a wonderful thing to do, Jean. pixiedust:

Sara made my day yesterday. You all made my day today. It is nice to know that DISers recognize the role that not-so-magical jobs play in making our vacations magical.

This IS a great idea--reverse pixie dust moments. :thumbsup2 I may steal your idea, as well, next time we're at the World. ;)

Please just remember to do offer any tip quietly and privately. The CM can run into trouble if they are caught accepting money from a guest.

It is a nice thing, the tipping of restroom workers. It's done in other places (some places even have tip dishes out for the purpose) so doing it at Disney should be ok, but there is that corporate policy to contend with, so just be sure to be alert to the surroundings when you tip.

What a wonderful idea! I will definitely do this in May when we arrive for our first DVC trip. You have such a good heart.

Good suggestion, I will be discreet when I do this.

I don't get to visit the boards as much as I used to and this post was just what I needed to see today. Warm fuzzies. I love posts like this.

It's nice to see members who think of others..... I am so sick of the "entitlement mentality" of some guests I see at the resorts and parks, and often on these boards.

Thanks for sharing this.

With this policy dont be surprised if Sara turned in this tip to her supervisor so that she doesnt get into trouble.
A non cleaning cast member lost his job a few years back at the beach club for accepting a 1.00 tip that he did not even want to take from the guest due to the policy, but the guest wouldnt take no for an answer.
He lost his job but fought for it back and did get it back.

But though this is a good gesture its not recommended people do this because you are placing their livelyhood in jeopardy

Good suggestion, I will be discreet when I do this.

The policy for non-tipped Cast Members accepting a tip from a guest had always been that they must decline it politely 3X before finally accepting if the guest insisted.

I was not aware this policy had changed...I have always tipped for exemplary service and I know that the Housekeeping staff will always accept a tip left for cleaning and/or Trash and Towel Day.

Years ago I tipped a CM who had to come assist with a broken ECV we had rented at the parks. I love the idea of tipping the attendants in the rest rooms, too. Tis always better to give than to receive.... :grouphug:

I've e-mailed Disney to try and get an answer regarding the tipping of their employees. I certainly do not want to get anyone fired. That seems extremely harsh to me as an outsider.

Please let us know what you hear back...

I understand the 3X refusal before accepting policy, and I always assumed that was to avoid things such as tipping the check in desk clerks to encourage some sort of "upgrade" for example. But what would a rest room attendant offer, a better toilet stall? lol..
