Just wanted to share with everyone that has a smart phone, and has an existing wireless plan or is interested in one with AT&T that they have just cut the cost of their plans while increasing the data (GBs) offered with each plan. I just increased my data by 8 GB per month and my cost was reduced by $5 per month. I had the cheapest plan offered to begin with. This offer is for existing and new customers! It is worth checking out. Every penny saved gets you closer to a Disney Parks vacation :)

I discovered this yesterday on accident as well. I have a teenage daughter that consistenly goes over her data  and I wanted to check into increasing the plan for all of us. We went from 6B at $230 for 4 iphones, to 10GB at $160.

Awesome Savings!!! I understand the teenager issue, I was constantly monitoring DS's usage daily since we only had a 2 GB plan ... Maybe now, I will only have to check up on his usage every other day :)

I wonder if this works for those of us that have grandfathered in at the unlimited data rates.

Does your plan automatically decrease or do you have to call them?

DH has a plan through work and I have wanted to add myself in as well as possibly our kids, but the cost has been prohibitive.

Thanks,

Dawn

This is great news! Thanks! Wonder if it's their answer to TMobile's offer to buy you out of your contract?

Gosh, I'll have to call them up and see if we can get that deal too! Thanks for the heads up.

You have to call because you are changing your plan. Basically it is $100 for 10gb of data and $15/phone.

You can pick a bigger data plan up to 50gb. So I have no idea how much an unlimited plan is, but I was paying $180 for 3 iPhones with 4gb data and now I'm paying $145 for 3 iPhones with 10gb data.

I just called and switched! We were on the same plan as you Mickeyluver37...4 smart phones with 6 GB for $230 and now 10 GB for $160. It doesn't re-up your contract either so sounds like a win-win!

I was reading up on this plan and I noticed that with this new plan you will have to pay the full cost of the phone upfront vs over the life of a contract. To still have a contract I believe is an additional cost.

It looks like ours would go up $5 unless this isn't shown on the website. We currently have 200mb each and 300 mb is the closest and costs more. Am I missing something?

The deal is tops if you do the 10gb. For example if I wanted to stay at 4gb it would cost me more!

If you pick a plan less than 10gb you pay $25/phone. But if you pick a plan at 10gb you only pay $15/phone.

Yes, this is for your existing phone. If you get a new phone you will either have to purchase it at full cost or get it under contract but pay the subsidy. Considering its a $25/mo difference, I have no problem paying oop for my next phone! Versus a 2yr contract you would save $600... About the full price of many smart phones.

In your case (I will guess 2 phones) 300mb shared is $20+$25+$25. ($70). That's a tiny amount of data. If you went 10gb you could use your phone everywhere anytime and it would be $130... $100(data)+$15+15.

Even if you jump to 1gb (shared) it is $45(data) +$25+25= $95.

Obviously everyone's data needs are different. If you can share such low data and only have 2 phones, this might not be the deal for you. But it is soo much better than the old plan when we paid $40/phone + data for those of us with 3 or more phones.

I was at $120 ($40x3 phones) before even adding the data plan. Now I pay $145. Basically $25 gets me 10gb to share

This would be the issue for our family if we switched to this plan, It would save us now on a monthly basis - but when we wanted new devices the cost per phone goes up $25.00 per smartphone device for two years following the upgrade!

Or the AT&T Next plan charges you similarly depending on the Device - it's like "rent to own" for your Smartphone.

So, at this pont I'm not convinced it makes sense.

You actually don't have to call, you can change your plan online. That is what I did. Just sign in to your account and click on make a plan change, and it will bring up the different plans and comparisons. Once you "make the change," you can print out confirmation from the website, and then they will also email you a plan change confirmation. It was quick and convenient, and best of all no hanging on hold for an eternity. :)

If you buy your phone outright, you keep the $15/mo. This saves you $25/mo over the span of a 2yr contract. That equates to $600.

So... You can spend $600 upfront on the cost of a phone and not be in a contract and continue to pay $15/mo for the service...

Or you can spend that $600/mo over the course of 2 years... Paying the same amount we used to pay.

Contract or not... Buy the phone at full price or a penny... That subsidy you were used to paying is worth $600.

You are assuming that I am comparing a contractual upgrade on the Mobile Share plan vs a AT&T Next plan or bringing my own (full priced or used) device.

The math is very obvious for the $25/mo difference for 24 months.

For my old grandfathered plan still saves me a lot - especially since we have 5 smartphones that would be $650.00 at retail or $30+/mo each on the next plan.

OHHHH......if I have to pay full price for the phone it may not be worth it. The boys and I all have prepaid right now and have Sprint based phones.

We would need to buy 3 new phones.

And what if your current phone is not finished with the contract? My husband has ATT but is still under contract until November. Can he even switch?

if we upgrade first and do the two year contract and get new phones then, switch over to this new plan. We pay about $160 now for 4 phones and no data, just txting . If we got data the cheapest we could have gotten was around $250. But we also need new phones. I'll have to ask at Costco tomorrow.

Are you already on att? I am. In fact all 3 phones of mine were purchased with the 2yr agreement... So I got them "cheap."

If you are already an att customer and had your phone before Feb 2014 (contract or not) they will only charge you $15/mo for the phone you currently use. For example I "bought" a 4s this fall for 99c. (2 yr agreement) it's still under contract until 9/2015. But they only charged $15/mo. Really!

What will I do when I am eligible & want for a new phone? I'll decide if I want to spend $600 out right, if I want to try the next plan, if I want the subsidized contract plan, or even if I want to bail on att altogether.

In the meantime, my bill went down a bunch, and my available data went up a bunch. What I choose to do at the end of my contract is a ??? But I like that I don't have to pay a subsidy on my phone plan if I don't want to.
