Just a brief summary so far.
Checked in on 8/16 @ 3p.Room ready-great 2BR building 16 room #1835-wonderful view of DTD from Pleasure Island to Cirque.In-laws were wowed by room!(we were too!!) CM's are great, very knowledgable-more Welcome Homes than I can count!!Bus service great-no more than 10 min wait-usually closer to 5 min.Walked frequently to main pool-not difficult at all-even at a meandering pace only 10 min!!
Only dissapointment was Artist's Palette-did not like the limited menu and also agree with others that once resort is totally built it will be too small!! Hopefully management will take heed and re-vamp menu.
Have booked a massage for my 20yo son on Thurs-will post more on this later.
Weather is back to hot with afternoon t-storms-parks are fairly crowded.Did the Illuminations Cruise last nite-In-laws again were wowed! guess DH and I are on the top of their Inheritance list again!!;) :rotfl:

For all those who've read about the negatives posted about SSR and were doubting their investment-don't worry about it.This is wonderful and we don't regret buying here for a minute-In fact I talked with DH about getting points somewhere else as an add-on to take advantage of 11 month window and he said to just get more here if I want!!So I'm outta here to find our guide :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Sounds like a good start to your vacation. Have a great time!

Have a great time!

I agree about adding on at SSR. THe units do have a large "WOW" factor especially with that view!!

Did you hear about the 2 Free AP's if you add-on 130 points or more? Be sure to ask!

How could your DH say anything but with his parents standing there with their mouths open? LOL!

Thanks for checking in.

Glad to hear your vacation is off to great start. Since you mentioned that you have a view of Cirque, can you confirm the rumor of part of its roof blowing off in the hurricane? I saw that in one of the early posts about damage from Charley but haven't seen it mentioned since. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your vacation and chasing down your guide :smooth:

Mike
the roof did not blow off-only the canvas tent that covers the entrance in front(sorry if it sounds confusing but that is the only way to explain it)
The strucutre itself and the permanent roof is just fine and all shows are going on as scheduled!!

HTH,
Trish

Thanks Trish - that's great news. Enjoy your vacation!

Trish,

Thanks for the report - glad to hear the the CP buildings at SSR haven't moved even farther away from the pool area!

Not to pick on you, and this is sort of in jest, but I find it amusing that some people are saying, "Boy, Artists' Palette stinks - but they're going to be too busy!". Maybe that was the plan all along: they didn't want to build a bigger restaurant, so they made the menu less appealing! ;) :p ;)

Glad you are enjoying yourself.
How far is it by Disney Transportation to the various parks?

We had lunch @ Artist`s Palette the day we went to visit SSR, DH and I thought it was great!
We do agree with expanding the menu though, since the resort will be so big- but the main dining hub naturally is DTD. We also love Portabello`s, it was always on our ps list anyway!

Enjoy your vacation!!! :wave2:
