At POFQ... And...

OP, I'm sorry to hear this. We've stayed at POFQ twice and have had wonderful rooms and experiences. And these experiences you've had, others have had at other WDW resorts. Yes, sometimes things slip through the cracks. Disney does want to make things right for you. I hope you've been able to start enjoying your vacation. :)

Stayed at POFQ several years back and not impressed. Resort appeared seedy and room lacked "Love", worn furniture and stained floors and walls. Grubby feeling. DH said never again to a moderate. Our one night at CSR wasn't much better, I feel that maybe the moderates just aren't given enough TLC by mousekeeping for some reason....

It was probably time to refurbished the room at the time you went. When we stayed there some years back, it was clean, no stains on the wall or the carpet. It was probably just refurbished. We are staying at POR next year and I know it's going to look brand new because they just got refurbished this year. I guess it just depends when you're there. Same goes with CSR. The room was very clean... no spots and it probably got refurbished.

Well, no, probably not. People rave about this resort.

Our first day hit a bump with a dirty room assigned to us... We had to be switched. It had scuff marks on the walls, thick dust behind the beds (and napkins stuffed down), and the grossest... droplets of red something or other on the carpet and yes, it looked like blood.

Switched rooms. Headed off to the foodcourt. I used to work in food handling so I notice stuff more than I should. The woman making my DD's sandwhich pulled frozen beef patties out of the freezer, put them on the grill, crumpled the paper they were on in her hand, wiped her hands on her SHIRT and picked up DD's food without washing her hands. I was so grossed out!!

Definitely leave feedback with Disney about the food handling. They can either fix the problem or explain a differing approach that may be misunderstood. I really doubt the later given what you described, but I also recall a local sandwich shop that doesn't use the plastic gloves while preparing due to some interesting studies [mostly summed up as folks don't wash the gloves between preparations, but generally would wash their hands if they weren't gloved]. To reiterate though, from what you described, I seriously doubt it's a case of a different approach, but more a case of efficiency :(.

We just stayed there and luckily had a spotless room. I wasn't crazy about the food court but I didn't see any mishandling of the food. (Plus someone commented about the ice cream area - it was clean and normal looking.)

I would have been let down by this too. I hope that you resolved this to your satisfaction.

To me behind the bed means in the tiny space between the wall behind the headboard. What does that area have to do with bed bugs? In order to even see back there, don't you have to pull the bed out from the wall? I can't understand how you could find a can of soda back there. Aren't the headboards flat up against the wall?

We pull the bed and/or mattress out on our hotel stays to check for bed bugs. This is they primary area to spot them. Remove the sheet and mattress pad run something sticky along the mattress ticking behind the bed to check for bed bugs.

We love POFQ. We will be staying there again next time we visit too.
I think you can have a bad experience any where you stay. It's up to you to make the most of your holiday or dwell on what's happened.

I hope the rest of your holiday picks up for you and your family.

:thumbsup2 We just got back from our first POFQ stay last month. We were delighted with the resort and would stay there again in a heartbeat. We've stayed at CSR, POR, WL and Poly prior to our POFQ stay. Our room was spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day, we had no issues with the food court - didn't witness any dirty, shabby walls or unsanitary practices on the part of food court CMs (and we stood at our station for quite a while waiting for my ds' cheesesteak sandwich.) We didn't mind the decor - but we knew ahead of time that we were choosing a Mardi Gras-themed resort, so we got what we expected.

Like other posters have said, you can have a bad experience at any hotel, motel or resort. You are definitely within your right to complain and to ask to be switched. I'm certain that if you look up thread histories, you'll find someone who's had these same issues at every resort on Disney property. OP, I hope you've gotten switched if that's your desire and that you're having a magical trip.
