DH called for a Kcup coffeemaker, because that's what the WDW website said he could do, and at first they said "Yes", but then they called back and said that the "it" had been discontinued at OKW-no more Kcup coffeemakers were available. So we have a 12 cup coffee maker, which is OK for most people, but I'm supposed to drink DeCaf and DH likes strong caffeine coffee. Oh, well-the view is beautiful, at least.

We arrrived today to OKW. Only had 2 Joffreys decaf and no regular provided. I actually brought my own coffee but thought I had read the filters were the normal flat bottom kind. Nope our coffee maker has the cone kind. I could cry because I already ordered groceries and now have no way to get those filters. Went to FD and got some of the nasty Joffreys. Waiting on bell services to deliver our groceries and housekeeping to bring extra plates, etc as there were only 3 provided. Hopefully the storm passes soon and deliveries resume because we are exhausted and want to go to sleep.

This won’t fix the decaf/regular issue, but what we did with the coffee in the coffeemaker is just follow the instructions using the coffee provided in the packages (even though we brought our own, w paper filters). We like our coffee rather strong so we just filled it to the 8 cup line, and it came out perfectly every morning. We enjoyed it.

Btw there is no need to bring filters as the coffee pots have reusable filters. Just make sure it sits in its slot correctly or the carafe won’t fill.

We use a Keurig at home and are used to having them at Disney resorts, too, but this was fine. The coffee maker itself was brand new. And our view was beautiful, too. :lovestruc Enjoy your stay!

Thanks! I don't know what DH did (I'll tell him what ratio you used) but he seemed OK. When I got up, I added a bunch of water and extra coffee creamer (then heated it in the microwave) and it was OK for me. A week of caffeine won't destroy me.
And we're right across from the HH this time, very convenient, and surprisingly peaceful (kind of thought this location might seem "busier")

We arrived yesterday too. And we had to wait for our groceries too. Kroger-excellent job!

It was actually my DH who’d read the instructions on the coffee package and got us having good coffee every morning, lol. I’d started out using our own coffee at first and it just made a big mess, had to throw it all away. Plus that’s how I figured out the reusable filter has to sit just so in its slot.

I was thinking for you, I might make a pot of decaf and refrigerate it, and heat it up in the morning, or vice versa. (Or drink iced?) I usually drink decaf, too, so I get it. But I was fine all week with the regular.

Some of the older Mr. Coffee ones that I have come across did not. We still use one since we keep them in our Owner's Locker even if the coffee maker does have one as a just in case and it is a little bit of an easier clean up.

We used Kroger as well. They were 30 minutes late but with the weather didn’t matter. They also apparently ran out of every cream cheese. Didn’t offer me an alternate brand or size. Thankfully the gift shop had it! Pricey but worth it.

When are you guys scheduling the delivery for? I usually schedule for early in the morning knowing that if I don't have my room yet Bell Services has refrigerator storage and is able to bring the groceries to my room when I do have the room assigned.

For future reference, I've been trying to keep the thread below as up to date as possible regarding the coffeemaker situation at the various resorts.

Keurigs have not been discontinued at OKW, they've never had them, other than a couple of lone reports about seeing one in a grand villa, and they won't have them available to request until after the next refurb, when all the villas there should end up getting them. The request thing only works at DVC resorts where there are other rooms at that resort (or the non-DVC resort attached to it) that do have keurigs.

You are giving too much trust to Kroger :)

Next trip see if you can grab an earlier time as Bell Services will accept them on your behalf for a lot of delivery services not sure about InstaCart though.
They did deliver to bell services at about 5:30 pm. Bell service was closed when we returned from Disney Springs due to lightning. They delivered everything to our room at about 10 when they were cleared to resume using the carts. It wasn’t ideal but you can’t bargain with Mother Nature.

That is a rough start to your trip. Sorry about that but yes, certainly you can’t bargain with mother nature.

DH read it, he can't remember whether it was on the DVC website or on the Walt Disney "official" website, regarding the specifics of Old Key West-that the rooms had the regular coffee makers, but if you wanted a Keurig, just call housekeeping, and they'd bring one to you. What's odd is that when he first called housekeeping, they were very nice and positive that yes, they'd get one to our villa right away. I remember he texted me to tell me. Then 15-20 minutes later, another housekeeper called back and said she was very sorry, but the K-cups had been "discontinued" at OKW so he couldn't get one. It really isn't going to spoil our trip-it's just a sad instance when you're told one thing on the website, but something different when you get there.

And regarding the Kroger delivery, we planned to get to the resort around 4:00, set up Kroger delivery for 1:00-2:00. Just said Bell Services, separate cold and frozen to be refrigerated/frozen. We ordered a half gallon of ice cream and it was still nicely frozen when we got it. Arrival didn't go quite as planned-we'd expected we'd get there and bell services would bring DH, the luggage, and our groceries to our room. However, when we arrived, bell services was just reopening from a thunderstorm and since we were staying just across the street, DH walked over with the luggage. Bell Services brought our groceries about 1/2 hour later. Several bakery items got smushed, but we ordered a bunch of bananas, which were very good looking, not over-ripe at all, no substitutions or missing items. Oh, DH did complain today about the blueberry muffins (Kroger bakery muffins). Apparently the Kroger bakers are not the best chefs-so we had a chuckle about that. Otherwise, we were pleased with the time scheduling.
