What are the odds that Magical Express pulled our bag? For our three checked bags we used the Mickey tags that Disney sent us. Two of the bags made it. The baggage attendant says the tracking indicates the bag made it to Orlando with the others.

I wanted to add that we did not sign up for ME. Bag still missing.

By Mickey tags you mean the souvenir type reusable luggage tags they send with a package?

DME pulls based on the bright yellow DME sticky tags. That's it.

Bags get misplaced sometimes. Put in the lost bag form or whatever they need, and go on your way. Make sure they have your contact info so they can let you know when it's found and when they are bringing it to you.

Magical Express wouldn't pull your bags unless you put the yellow Magical Express bands on them. Have you filled all the proper papers with the airline?

Is it theoretically possible a DME employee messed up? Sure. But that would mean an extra bag (with no DME tag, but with an airline luggage tag) ends up somewhere. I would think anyone finding such a bag would return it to the appropriate airline. The airline would then return it to the rightful owner.

Submit the required paperwork and go about your day. The airline is responsible for getting you the bag.

Maybe someone with a similar bag and tag took yours my mistake. I put a colored ribbon on my luggage handle to make it stand out. One time though I saw an older couple taking mine by mistake. The man said to his wife "you said the one with the red ribbon!". Now I use purple.

I doubt DME workers would pull it without the bright yellow DME tag on it. If it made it out to baggage claim one would think you would have seen it come out. Someone could have taken it, accidentally or on purpose.
Let us know what happens.

too many people are using ribbons now. after about the third time someone tried to walk off off with ours(each time we had different ribbons. red, yellow, and orange), i used kilz and hot pink spray paint to stencil pictures on all sides of our black generic luggage.

Yep. You gotta do something unique. I have a work related sticker on mine, that I can guarantee only people that work for my company have. Between that and the Mickey sticker, I know which luggage is mine, no question!:goodvibes

My nephew words for the company that handles the luggage for DME. If the bag didn't have the yellow DME tag, it should not have been pulled. The system is highly computerized, and every bag pulled is scanned and entered into the system.

If it's accidentally pulled, they will realize before it leaves the airport, as there will be no bar code to scan to log the bag into the system before it is put on a truck. If it was accidentally pulled it will be taken to the luggage office of the respective airline to be reunited with the owner. According to my nephew, maybe twice a month this happens. Usually they realize the mistake while the luggage is still being sent to the carousel, and the owner never even realizes it had been accidentally pulled. They are more likely to miss a tagged bag then to take one without a tag.

The reality is that most likely either someone else picked up your bag thinking it was theirs, or unfortunately, it's possible it was stolen. Good luck.

PS--I would look to see if there is a similar bag still going around or sitting near the carousel that might belong to a person who may have accidentally took yours. If so, perhaps consider calling the phone number on the tag to ask if there might have been a mistake.

We had a bag go missing a couple of years ago with DME. It was eventually found in some side room off the baggage claim area. when found, 2 complete high-end fragrance sets that we had packed to put in our Owners Locker had been stolen. We reported it missing as soon as our other two bags made it to the room, but Bell Services refused to do anything about it nail about 12 hours later. They kept acting like we were over-reacting.

Since then, we travel with just carry-on and with minimal luggage. I hope you have better luck than we did.

If the OP did not sign up for DME, then they would not have received the yellow DME tags. I would guess that there is little to no chance that a DME worker "pulled" their bag.

How do you know that airport security workers weren't the ones who took your items?

I've never used ME. But, once they did pull my bag. I had a yellow cover on the handle, so I guess in their haste they grabbed it. No ME tags on it at all. Luckily between the airline and ME it showed up in our room.
