DH & DS17 are in the UK now! :thumbsup2

They phoned from Bath only an hour ago. Had a bit of difficulty with the public phone not taking their cards & at 11pm UK time didn't think they should ask anyone.
They plan to go to Evensong tomorrow.

So if any of you UK DISers see a young man in a Boston Red Sox cap that's Patrick. DH will be the bewildered Yank behind the wheel :teeth: wave & run!

I hope they are enjoying their trip

DH was in Boston last week and I can identify with the problems using payphones!

Are you enjoying some peace and quiet whilst they are away Jean? :)

We have at least one UK DISer who lives in Bath (Frances) and I'm not too far away. Well, I am this weekend - I'm at my brother's in Brighton! :teeth:

I'm sure they'll have a good time - Bath is a lovely city. Don't know what the weather's supposed to be doing, though. It's grey and miserable here in Brighton, but it was reasonably pleasant in Gloucester yesterday.

I'll be on the look out! ;) Hope they are having a great trip and enjoying the sites. The weather isn't too bad today - but it's supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow :)

:wizard:

Thanks for all the replies! :sunny:

It is verrry quiet here. Just me & DS' unruly Boston Terrier, Zippy.
I'm admitting to chatting more frequently with the little fellow & in much greater detail. He is so agreeable, forever cheerful & apparently finds everything I say of the utmost interest. Couldn't really ask for more~

I was concerned whether the guys would find anything open, other than churches, this Easter Sunday. Here we usually have an Easter egg hunt followed by family in for holiday dinner. DH told me he bought Patrick a large Cadbury chocolate bunny. Hoping my heathens will make it to church today :teeth:

For phone booths in the US, we buy phone cards or have plenty of quarters, dimes & nickels in hand. Here in the Northeast, the less pricey cards are available at Target stores or the Market Basket grocery stores or WalMart. I like a card at 3 cents per minute. (domestic calling). Still the rate for use in public phones is quite high. Here phone booths can be operated by some pretty odd companies, charging very different rates. On one corner the phone booth will be leased by Company A, the next street over, leased by Company B. All this varies, too, from state to state. :rolleyes1

I'll mention to Patrick to wear his Dive Quest shirt this week!

Jean - my family and I have just returned from a week's holiday in Bath. Believe me there is plenty of things open. It was jam packed on Friday when we did an open top bus tour. The weather was cool but dry and sunny spells. This morning when we left it was glorious sunshine and we've returned home in the Midlands (near Derby) to showers! Sorry didn't see your loved ones had a job keeping and eye on mine :rotfl2:

DH mentioned a walking tour they did on Saturday. So much to see & do.

For some reason I have a sneaking suspicion they won't be doing the Jane Austen sites.. Just give 'em swords & tumbly down ruins, some stout and British soccer--or any sport where they can be really vocal!-- & they are happy fellows!

Jean

So it was an outsized Cadbury chocolate bunny for DS on Easter.
All's right with the world :goodvibes
DH & DS17 did make Evensong & really enjoyed it.

Saturday they took the Historic Walking Tour of Bath given by the Mayor's Honorary Guides (is it possible I have that title at all correct???).
DH thought it was an excellent tour. The guide, Diana, was tremendously informative. For all interested, the tour lasted 2 hours & was free. DH said it was amoungst the best tours he's done anywhere, well worth the time spent.
Later it was a tour of the Roman baths & the Costume Museum.

Off they went to Glastonbury, where DH said everyone was "getting in touch with themselves & aligning their chakras"! All dancing sandals & crystals. :teeth: I'm laughing imagining staid, cynical DH amoungst the New Agers. :rotfl2: He wasn't too crazy about
Santa Fe, NM either! :rotfl: DS17 let me know Dad did not go into the "Mystical Piglet" or other such shops. Bet they're both thanking their 'lucky stars' I'm not on the trip :teeth:

Last night a visit to the Bizarre Bath Street Theatre was on The Schedule ( :worship: ). Can't wait to hear what that is all about

Leigh Farm is the B&B they are staying at. Good reports in that quarter. :thumbsup2

We also got tagged! :tink: Am I excited or what?!
Now how ever did I guess that would be the sentence the Tag Fairy would choose!
Well, no more naked DIsing :surfweb: :lmao:
DH also surprised me with reservations for a 1 bdrm BWV 12-17 November of this year. Whoopeeeeeee.....! :woohoo:

Jean

I hope they are having a fantastic trip. It's a shame that we now have the April showers :umbrella:

Hope they are still have a wonderful time :goodvibes

My wanderin' fellows just called today--on their way to Caenarfon & quite a way it is, evidently :teeth:

Chris tells me he'd like to take a few well-aimed whacks at the Navman navigational system in the rental car. :badpc:
He also tells me that it is a fortunate thing that DS17 sleeps in the car, or the poor kid would be getting quite the
tutorial in advanced profanity :rotfl:

So on they toddled to Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Of the houses toured they enjoyed Anne Hathaway's cottage the most. And while certainly interesting, W. Shakespeare's birthplace struck them as just okay. I had the feeling they felt there were just too many replicas for their tastes.

Patrick & Chris were fortunate enough to see a production of Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra at the Swan Theatre. By standing in the Return Ticket Line they snagged fairly decent tickets, surprising as it was a 'press' night & the play featured Patrick Stewart. It seemed that not more than 15 minutes into the production the fire alarms went off :scared1: & the entire theatre had to be evacuated Fortunately, the play was able to resume & the guys heartily enjoyed it.

Had their pictures taken at Stratford's Rose & Crown :thumbsup2 ! I can't wait to get those on-line for all of you!
