Hi everyone,

We arrived on Tuesday. Of course, major crowds which we were expecting but we've been lucky to avoid most lines. I think our longest wait was in the Indy FASTPASS line!!! That was a new one. I'm not used to Fastpass lines taking 25 minutes but it was still better than the hour in standby.

Question: Crowd wise, would you suggest going to the park Friday or Saturday with Magic Morning availability? In the past we have avoided Saturdays like the plague because we have heard it's the busiest day, but there has been some talk about AP blackouts? So I wanted to get opinions here. Thanks so much!!!

Shelly

Are you trying to decide whether to go Friday and skip Saturday or vice versa?? Do you have MM? If so, I'd do Saturday and take advantage of MM. Looks like you have the long hours on both days, so to do MM, you need to be at the gates at like 6:30 on Saturday, odds are less people will be willing to do that.

OTOH, if you've already done all the MM rides, and could care less about doing them again, I might opt for Friday, and being there again, a half hour before the park opens (7:30), and head straight for what you want to do.

Good luck!

I'd pick Saturday for MM, with AP blockouts, you'll get A LOT done that morning.

Well, only the two So Cal APs are blocked out on Saturday, so there will still be Deluxe and Premium AP holders there. I know many here fear AP holders and their numbers, but I figure AP holders generally know what they're doing and don't really get in my way (b/c I've been an AP holder and generally know what I'm doing). I fear the ticket-holders! :rotfl2:

If you have MM, I'd use that, absolutely!

But is this an either/or? You don't have tix to go both days? I personally don't stop myself from going to the parks even on busier weekends; I go early, enjoy the relative emptiness of the park while others snooze away, and just deal with the crowds that build as the morning goes on. So I'd go to both.

Pretty weird to have such a wait for the Indy FP! I've never experienced that (and if I did I would figure the machines had broken down, and would run into the SR line, LOL, if open).

But overall maybe I'm not that much help, as the thought of purposely keeping myself from the parks is just unfathomable to me. I'd only be hurting myself if I did that! So I might not be THE best person to ask, LOL.

Oh and it is supposed to rain Saturday if that impacts your decisions. And yes, we are trying to decide between Friday and Saturday. Thanks!!

Shelly

See I thought the crowds were GREAT, not bad at all....I thought it was going to be WAY worse, last year was WAY worse! Yesterday at noon, the longest wait time I saw was 35 for Indy. Space was the same too! I was pumped! Granted last time I was there was right after X-mas! :)

See for me, I think I would go on Friday! Yes, MM on Sat would be awesome, but, I know some schools around me have Monday off, so families might be leaving on Fri after school to head down there. BUT, Friday, schools everywhere still have the day off.

Also, I was sooo disappointed by MM, only certain areas were open (Tomorrow and Fantasy Lands). I swear it used to be that everywhere was open, but I might be wrong. Just make sure those are the areas you want to go to. We had already done that, so I was bummed, we were hoping for a little Indy and Splash time.

I guess I am not help! :confused3 I there there are positives and negatives for both days!

Bumbershoot, you are awesome! "I'd only be hurting myself"....that is so funny.

Anyway, trust me if we had another day on our park hopper, we go both days. :) Just trying to decide which day is best. So far the consensus seems to be Saturday with possibly upgrading to an AP so we can go Friday RIGHT bumbershoot??? :D

Hmm, that is interesting...We saw lots of 60 minute wait and the FP line for Space was the same as Indy....about 20 minutes. Too weird. I considered it crowded but you have to remember we usually go during the lowest seasons. I can't complain though because we are having a GREAT time and there have been spots of what I would consider lower crowds. I honestly don't mind the slightly longer wait times, it's maneuvering around (with strollers) that is tricky. Anyway, a busy day at DLR is still a fabulous day!! Thanks for all responses so far!!:goodvibes

If it is supposed to rain on Saturday, that would definately tilt me to Saturday... DL in the rain is awesome!! :thumbsup2

Again, making sure you want to do what is open for MM... then I repeat my first reply and say Saturday.

:surfweb:

I was surprised but Wednesday had it had thinned out...granted we go go go in the morning and then chill, nap, etc in the midafternoon and go back to the parks around 6ish! :)

I wonder if you happen to hit the FP lines right after a prob of something, we got Indy FP for a 1:15 return time at 11:30 and got them fast...In December the Indy FP line was LONG, like 15 min! They even had out rope things for the line for it... AND they ran out before 12:00!

Why not go both days??? What will you do on the day you don't go?? It doesn't cost much to add a day once you get up to 3+ days. Go for opening both days, take a break in the afternoon if you want/need to and then head back for the evening. For sure use your MM ~ but why didn't you use it today?

Yeah, I'm kind of a freak about going every day. We're planning a WDW trip now, and I'm under strict orders to have a few pool/resort days, and OMG it's killing my disney-brain. And that's despite WANTING to swim and spend time looking around resorts! The family already knows that I might just go upgrade myself to an AP and go spend half days while the guys are sleeping/swimming, LOL.

Before I go into my long drawn out "yay AP!" spiel, are you staying onsite, or is your ticket the way you'll have MM access?????

Aaah! You caught us. We slept in....eeeek! We were just exhausted. We spent a nice relaxing day at DCA. Super fun. But anyway, I LIKEY your idea about adding a day! Will try to convince DH. Thanks! :) If anyone else wants to chime in, go for it! :D

Ya, I get it. Trust me.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites. Ticket is the way we have MM access.

Ya, could be. We had that problem with Soarin' today. One of the rooms wasn't running and the Fast pass line was super long and slow. Needless to say, we ducked out. :D Kids already rode it so we ran over to GRR which was 5 min. Yay!

Any reason why it is busy this week? I would think this time of year, during mid-week it would be slow.

Well...if you have tickets that only give you Fri or Saturday, if you go tomorrow and upgrade to the AP, you will not have that MM for Saturday.

And if you want the MM on Sat and then upgrade on Sat, you won't be able to go tomorrow.

Unless you upgrade to a day-longer ticket tomorrow, and then that should keep the MM on your ticket, and then I *think* you can upgrade the ticket again on Saturday, after the MM, to the AP. You would want to check with them on Fri, if you go to upgrade to another day.

I was going to say that it would be an annoyance financially (b/c you'd lose any discount you got on your ticket by paying the difference between it and gate price for the next "size" ticket), but if you're planning to go to an AP anyway, it makes no difference. At DLR (vs WDW), you lose any discount you might have gotten on the ticket, when you upgrade to an AP, b/c you just pay the difference between *what you paid* and the cost of the AP. So it wouldn't be an extra issue.
