In our school district (Northern California, which is very covid-cautious with an 88% fully vaccinated (of eligibles) rate), they require a "modified quarantine" after out of state travel (or for other particular exposure scenarios), which is pretty sensible. The "modified quarantine" is the kids still attend school with their required masks but refrain from extracurriculars and unmasked social events, and on day 5 after returning, you get them a test. In your case, you could do the same -- wear your masks at all times around others until you clear a negative test 5 days after you return. The messaging has been that transmission between two masked people is uncommon -- so if you mask up and test on day 5, you are being very responsible about ensuring you don't pass along any unsavory viruses.
