At Disney Now

First it is nice the OP is at home and knows the system.
Second for those with data phones this works great when you need back up. I don't have a smart phone so I wrote all my info (FP+, etc) on a piece of paper and carried it with.

I spent 4 days last week at WDW and was scared to death as I was solo and did not have some one at home to help or a data phone. All went well for me. BUT there was one weird thing…just be aware. When I was paying for food with my visa reward card, the girl looked at me and asked if I had a MB. I did and it was under a long sleeve shirt and so I said yes and she said "It is showing up on my screen" and I wasn't even close to the round mickey thing. What your charges!

She was probably seeing the signal from the long-range transmitter in your band. This is one of the features of the long-range transmitter in the Magic Band. Receivers at various places in the parks can read the band from a distance, without you having to touch the bend to anything. It supposed to do things like trigger certain interactive features around the parks, allow ride photos to be added to your Memory Maker account automatically, or even just show a CM your name and if you're celebrating something, so that they can greet you by name, or wish you a happy birthday or something. It shouldn't allow for things to be charged without the short-range transmitter being touched to the mickey head and a PIN being entered, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

It's only testing so it's OK. You husband should just feel privileged that he was chosen to be one of the lucky ones to partake in the test. What he's going through now will help millions of families in the future.

Oh, btw, all 3 of my magic bands, one from a Thanksgiving trip and two from this trip, all worked flawlessly. I did lose one in the parks though. All the sudden it was gone to Never Neverland.

Sorry to hear about the issues that the OP's DH & DS are having. i sure hope WDE gets these kind of issues worked out soon.

Left AK around 3pm and went back to Sports to rest and to swim. Got in the room no problem and found a Disney Bag in their room with snacks and water bottles. No note just a tag with their room number.

My husband said he will go right to Guest Services at MK tomorrow morning before even trying to enter the park.

He did say even though his band did not work today for AK, it did work for his fastpasses.

At this point, it becomes almost worth the adventure... because the story is unbelievable. It will be fun to tell for years. You can't make this stuff up.

Nope sadly it is a real story. Funny things is online it now lists my husband as having 2 park days left that expire on the 15th and my son as having 1 park day. Tonight is the first night my son has been listed as having a ticket. Thing is his ticket has always worked on his band. My husbands has never worked and has always been listed.

I am glad that not everyone is having these types of problems and that some people get to have a smooth no problems trip. I feel for the poor cm's having to deal with the upset guests.

Your husband is a much more patient man than I would be at this point. :) Kudos to him! I hope it all turns around for them by end of their stay.

It's stories like this that erase 10 positive trip reports from my mind. No one should be going through this type of ordeal at this point in the game. Sports has had a full blown version of this since the first week of December. The fact that this is still happening 3 months later is unacceptable.

Can't we just go ahead and label this year's promotion as "The Year of a Million Screams"?

LOL@ "Year of a Million Screams" sounds about right. I am wondering how all of this is going to work come our summer trip.

I think this is good reading for those preparing for the new fast pass plus system!

The scariest thing about this thread is that this is a family who CLEARLY knows their way around the system, probably far better than the average guest. I can't imagine what it would be like for a first-timer to figure out all these issues.

I've been getting in the habit of checking MDX every couple of days just to make sure everything is there. I've been adding components piece by piece (rooms, then ADRS, then ME, adding tickets this week) and I'm completely paranoid that something is going to get bumped off the account.

They came back on Wednesday. On Tuesday they went to MK. My husband's magic band worked and so did my son's. It was a miracle. It is still showing online as his having 1 ticket day left, however he did use all of them.

He is very upset about the whole situation. I said well at least they know it is bad and gave you free stuff and they were nice about trying everything the cm's could do to fix it.

He said it ruined the trip in that he was nervous the whole time that he would not be able to eat, or get in his room, or charge stuff, or use the fast passes.

He said it caused stress worrying whether it would work from one minute to the next.

He seems to think things went downhill on day 1 when they went to Disneyquest. Something there caused a glitch in his account in his opinion..

Overall they did have a good trip, were able to spend time together without the other kids and they did go on what they wanted to.

Thanks everyone for your advice, stories, and laughs.

Wow, your husband is amazingly patient. You should make sure to send an email to guest relations though outlining this story. They should understand how stressful it made the whole trip.

Technology is great, but in a huge setting like Disney it can easily backfire and this is a fine example of it.
