At Disney Now

Your husband is a much more patient man than I would be at this point. :) Kudos to him! I hope it all turns around for them by end of their stay.

It's stories like this that erase 10 positive trip reports from my mind. No one should be going through this type of ordeal at this point in the game. Sports has had a full blown version of this since the first week of December. The fact that this is still happening 3 months later is unacceptable.

Can't we just go ahead and label this year's promotion as "The Year of a Million Screams"?

Final Update for tonight:

They stopped in Guest Relations on the way out of DHS, they were given new bands to take back to Sports to have activated. At sports they were given a refund of one night for their trouble. So for all of their troubles so far, they have received extra mugs, fast passes, free night, and one extra park day.

Disney has really tried to make this right. This situation is in no way ruining their vacation except for the time wasted. They are still having fun and being able to accomplish what they want to. (me on the other hand would be flipping out and it would ruin my way of touring the parks at rope drop).

They were able to get in their room a few minutes ago and both bands worked. We will see what tomorrow brings at AK.

I just want to clarify the entire time except for dinner the first night, my son's band has worked. They are on the same reservation, made at the same time and his has been fine. It has only been my husbands that has been the problem.

Thanks everyone for your support and the laughs you provided for me today.

Chrissy

That's decent compensation for their trouble.

Sorry to hear your dh is having so much trouble. Hopefully they will have no troubles tomorrow!

We are at OKW now and I have spent more time at the front desk trying to get things straightened out in the past 5 days than I have ever spent in the last 20 trips! I won't bore you with the main details, but they are quirky. Let me tell you the last one: They finally had to "rebook" us because it was so messed up. Fearing to use the MB, I let it rest for over 30 hours and when I tried to pay for a simple meal at Sassagoula (we are not on a dining plan) it declined the room charge because the computer said I was over my limit. I paid and just shlepped back to my favorite spot in line at the OKW Hospitality House where I was told I was over the limit because of the $5,800 in charges. In a mere 24 hours I had accrued enough $750 nightly room charges, plus county taxes, to add up to almost 6K. The fact that I am staying in a 2-bedroom at a DVC resort on points didn't seem to matter to that pesky little MB. And I hadn't used the little thing on the new reservation.

Tomorrow…on to Epcot. Or I may sit in the parking lot all day.

Well with 6 Magic bands for our next trip ( 3 resorts ), hopefully we have 2 that work. Of course when it is a system issue doesn't matter what band you try to use.

I will be printing out copies of all my fastpasses and of course bring my AP with me. If something isn't working I will give cm a copy of my itinerary and my cell phone # and tell them to track me down in the park when they fix it because I'm not going to waste time at guest services, I will go in fp lane and if it doesn't work, I will not leave line they are welcome to have security chase me down, it might resolve the issue quicker.

I have been a defender of FP+ , But this is not a FP issue but aMDE/MB issue.

This reminds me of a call I made to service desk for a website I had to access for work. It would not allow me to access info I needed. The tech said it works fine, I just wasn't accessing it properly, I shouldn't access it through the normal channels but to go through a special link, which he sent me. My point is that sometimes "techy" ways don't always translate to the public. Seems to be a disconnect between tech and the rest of the world.

The most important part of vacation is time, they can give you credits etc, but they can't give you time back. Hope the rest of their stay is seemless

:worried: Sure hope things get worked out for you, too! Come on Disney, get it together!

Oh dear. I hope your DH's new band works better. IMO, they should have replaced the band after it enters more than a few problems.

The compensation (it sounds like only $ and more FPs) doesn't seem enough to ease the frustration and time wasted at park. I am not trying to be greedy or anything, I think it should just work perfect or close to perfect right from the start.

I agree. If I had to waste precious RD time standing in a GR line I would want FPs not reimbursed for a night. To each their own tho I guess. I just know how much can get accomplished in that first hour. OP - best of luck to your DH tomorrow.

Absolutely. And IMO it *should*.

A good trip is good. It's how it is supposed to go. Disney used to pride itself on making great vacations, so a good trip should be expected. Not out of the ordinary.

This BAD stuff happening SHOULD stand out. It should make people sit up and say "that's not right".

That's decent compensation for their trouble.

Hmm. "they have received extra mugs, fast passes, free night, and one extra park day. "

Something like $24 worth of mugs, free FPs, what, $10 or $20 for the free day each depending on how much that costs now...and one night at a *value* resort? Doesn't seem right to me.

...They finally had to "rebook" us because it was so messed up. ...In a mere 24 hours I had accrued enough $750 nightly room charges, plus county taxes, to add up to almost 6K.

I think we should start threads every day entitled "don't let them rebook your DVC vacation!"

It just causes weirdness. In our case it actually was OK because we had no points left to take, so points going into holding and then coming out wasn't an issue. It could not happen so it didn't. (but the process that led them to rebook was part of 2 hours DH spent at the front desk, while the rest of us were at the pool for the only sunny part of that day, while trying to sort out a DIFFERENT issue so we could be compensated for it)

But other times, it's just awful.

And in YOUR case you've just shown the problem with how vague the purpose of putting a CC down is. I think this vagueness was run into on a post on "themeparks" the other day, where someone had used a CC to pay for a reservation, then the people staying were invited to have a BOG lunch FP+, and instead of it letting them charge what they wanted to charge, it charged the CC that had been used to pay for the room. Because that's what it seems BPG FP+ lunches, do, they charge to the card used in other transactions. Now often that's not really noticed, because we tend to use the same card for charging to the room as we did to pay for trips. But this poster noticed it because it was HER card, but her grown child's vacation with his wife.

So now you're being charged on the card you set up for charging TO the room, and the account is being charged FOR the room, when points should be getting used. I think it's a real problem.

I have been a defender of FP+ , But this is not a FP issue but aMDE/MB issue.

But it's all the same, and that's the problem. They are trying to do a "one stop shopping" thing, but they are both failing and succeeding. The failing part is that when something falls it seems like everything else does, too. Before, if my card got partially messed up and I couldn't get FPs, it didn't ALSO keep me from entering the parks. Because I have had an AP when we go to WDW, before, that wasn't part of my KTTW, so if my KTTW card went weird it didn't keep me out of the parks. If my AP got weird it didn't keep me out of my room. It was separate so it was simple.

They got the idea that it should all be even MORE connected, so they did all this, and whether it's the way it's supposed to be or just because they are hiring 19 year old very very low-paid interns who won't say anything negative because they are doing this to get their foot in the door, I don't know.

When it's good, it's good and to be expected (it's not even "very very good", because Disney is *supposed to be good* at minimum). But when it's bad it's really really bad.

This morning tried to get into AK around 945 and my husband's Magic Band once again not working. Even though it is a new one with a new reservation. The new reservation is showing on My Reservations on the Disney Website. My son got into the park no problem. Guest relations did nothing but tell him to enter.

So tomorrow's Magic Kingdom will probably be the same disaster.

After reading all of this I really don' t trust the new system at all. Things being charged to the wrong places, tickets not showing up or being used when they should still have days left. Sounds like a real cluster $##8 to me. I really don't want to get home only to find out I was overcharged or some other issue. I know if I go back I will be keeping a wallet and doing it the old fashioned way. I don't trust MB.

This is an absolutely horrible experience. Disney should be embarrassed!! I hope your husband and son are still able to have a good time today and tomorrow. pixiedust:

I am very, very glad that I bought my tickets through UT so I don't have to rely on the MBs.

So this is a possible experience someone can look forward to happening in an upcoming trip. Thousands of dollars and lots of time planning and vacation time spent so your trip can be totally screwed up by a system that has this kind of technical issues. UNACCEPTABLE!!!! So sorry for you OP!

Agree. Totally unacceptable.

Even tho everything worked fine on our trip in Nov. I still paid out of pocket and had separate cards for AP and room. I am doing the same in a couple of weeks. I want my vacation time to be spent vacationing. I don't want to push my son's wheelchair to guest relations or the front desk, I def don't have the $ for multiple charges.

Are they stilll giving KUTV cards or backup cards in case the MB's don't work? Then you can use those and not waste time at GR. Just wondering

I'm so sorry guests have had to deal with technology headaches on vacation, regardless the compensation they receive.

The only issue that would really interfere with our vacation is not being able to get into the park at RD and wasting time then in guest relations. I would expect to receive several extra FP+ just for that time, in addition to the three.

We bought tickets will call and linked them to our magic bands. Can we pick up separate park tickets at POR or Downtown Disney guest relations? I've read that this doesn't resolve the problem in all cases, but it does in some.

Just got off of the phone with him. He was at guest relations at DHS. His band didn't work yet again to get back in the park.

Just a few hours ago at Sports at the desk everything was good, now his band is only saying he has a Disney Quest admission. He was at Disney Quest Friday afternoon after checking in with my son.

Guest Relations at DHS is keeping his bands, gave them 2 paper fast passes for tonight and told him they are calling sports to take away the reservation and to redo it all over.

I asked him what about eating or snacks tonight at DHS and they can't because no bands.

He is furious now, was ok until now, but this is the final straw. I told him be grateful you are not there with little kids or all 6 of us.

Thankfully when I tool the other kids in August we still had the regular cards.

Chrissy

Kudos to your DH. He is a better person than I am. I'd seriously be losing my crap all over someone and having a meltdown of epic proportions and it wouldn't be pretty.

That is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. :sad2:
