So, I found something on the menu I think my picky eater DH will eat, they have ribs on the menu. Have you been, are they any good? I'm not worried because I'm not a picky eater and the pasta dish looks good, DD will be so excited about the princess' it won't matter and the kids menu looks pretty good.
How is this overall? We've done the castle and 1900 Park Fare and want to do something new and see more Princess' this year while DD is still so into them (they grow up so fast you know). Anyone have pics, comments they want to share?

I've done the Princess lunch there last year with my then 7-year-old daughter, who also is a bit of a picky eater (if they have mac'n'cheese we're usually fine). She loved it though and we all left stuffed! They actually started us out with a buffet type appetizer bar, which had a lot to choose from and even though some were quite different foods than what we would usually eat, they were all delicious. I can't remember the exact main course we had, but I know that we all ate well and thought it was really good. The princesses all came around to the tables of course so your little one is kind of eating between gasps of joy, but none-the-less I know my daughter thought it was great since she wants to visit again this August!

Thanks so much, sounds wonderful.
Hoping someone will reply who had the ribs, gotta tell DH they were good ;)

I had the BBQ ribs--and I hate to say it but I didn't think they were that good.:sad1:

They are BBQ rib TIPS--so they're not actual ribs. Anyone expecting a big rib dinner may be disappointed. Mine were really tough, I thought. Also included was a piece of corn bread, which was too dry.

Overall, I thought it was an "okay"meal--certainly nothing great, but I did eat it. The dessert platter was pretty good! And my daughters LOVED seeing all the princesses. In fact, even though we weren't impressed with the food we're going back in September since it was my daugters' favorite meal!

I have had almost everything on the dinner menu (I worked at the restaurant) and while the ribs were alrgiht, I don't think I would recommend them as a first choice.
Does your husband like meatloaf? The kjottkaker is just like meatloaf and is so so good. It's a traditional Norwegian dish and while it may sould iffy, it's just a meat pattie with yummy mashed potatoes. I am guessing you looked over the menu and probably looked this one over since it's hard to say and most posters who choose to eat here for lunch or dinner don't try anything too fancy without knowing about it but it's my favorite thing there for dinner.
My boyfriend is a server at Akershus and whenever he recommends this dish very few Guests walk away unhappy.
I can understand a picky eater and personal tastes are different but the ribs were one of my least favorite things I have eaten there. Sorry. But he can always give them a try and if he truly hates them, maybe your server can bring something else.

Good luck! :goodvibes

That is soooo helpful, I did overlook that because I had no clue what it is, I will tell him to get that then, he does love Meatloaf and mashed potatoes so he should leave happy.

If you're worried about booking this because the menu scares you, and princesses are what you're after, then don't it. The "exotic" menu is what distinguishs Akershus from, say, the castle.

We are going in Sept. for my DD3 who is so princess crazy. I have not eaten there but have heard you can really fill up on the appetizer buffet if you wanted to. Also have heard the desserts are good. I think you should be fine even if the main entree is not so great. The menu really doesn't look so good to me but it is worth it for DD to have a wonderful magical time.
