Asked to test MyMagic+ during BLT stay 7/24

We wrapped up our testing of fp+ on Sunday before heading to VB. Overall, after our initial glitches and problems everything went smoothly and we really enjoyed the hands free ease of not carrying a bunch of keys or wallets around and also the flexibility of the system.

We ended up using the mobile app while in the parks a lot so I would recommend having some kind of device with wifi capabilities. There will probably be a new business of phone charging centers to accommodate dying batteries in the parks. I brought my portable USB power bank charger as a backup for my quick draining phone battery.

I was hoping the bands would work as room keys here at VB because the doors are RFID, but no luck. They dont have the mickeyhead readers and pin numbers for purchases yet either. I have no idea whether they will eventually have this or not. We did get to watch two separate nests of loggerhead hatchlings emerge and make their way to the ocean!! So all is good:).

We go to HH next so I will see if the bands work there next week.

As far as I know there are no plans at this time to make the MagicBands work at VB or HH. The benefits of doing so are quite small for those locations.

Yesterday we were at Epcot. We selected Soarin as our first fp and then after redeeming that fp we exchanged our third fp for soarin again instead of mission space. So we had two soarin and one test track fp+. We also pulled paper fp for soarin and mission space.

To test out the theory of expiring fp+, during our third fp window I sent the rest of the fam on soarin. I stayed behind to play with the MDE mobile app to see what I could do (I had already ridden it twice).

What I found was as long as the fp had not been redeemed I could still use the mobile app to change the time or experience. I was able to change it during the active window as well as after the fp time expired. I was able to rebook all the way until the park closed last night.

So maybe if you go to the attraction after expiration the CM would say the pass had expired. But you still have the option of using the mobile app to rebook until closing.

We really enjoyed the option of having 3 fp at all the parks and figuring out times that worked great for us. It was great to be able to tweak things once at the parks as well. Not sure how flexible it will be when everyone is using it but we really liked it during our test.

Is it because you are part of the current testing that you were able to pull a paper FP? I thought you couldn't use standard FP if you choose to use FP+?

Throughout all of the testing so far, guests have been given a KTTW card in addition to the MagicBands, and that card works in the FP kiosks.

Guests for the upcoming tests in August have been given conflicting information about whether they still can, but they will still receive a KTTW card, as some locations still are not equipped to process MagicBands for transactions.

Today is August 1st. When I looked at MDE this morning I had the option of selecting fp for the entire month! We aren't going to be at WDW any time soon but if we had this would be great. I'm wondering if that is how the new system will work for AP holders?

Are you part of an existing test?

Nothing changed for me... :(

I stayed at BLT during the test for two nights. I was able to continue booking more fp when we moved to BCV. The system kept allowing me a rolling window of four days to book more fp until today. Now I can book the entire month! Very weird! Maybe this is because I have an AP?

I was just debating buying an AP because we are going in December and then again in September, so it makes sense to buy the AP and then activate it in December and get September out of it too... It saves quite a bit of money!

My only hesitation is will I be able to make Fp+ reservations? Will it be like dining that when I hit the mark I can start my FP+ or will I get screwed?

Disney has stated publicly that anyone with a ticket will be able to use FP+, including passholders.

What they haven't fully stated yet is what limits, if any, an annual passholder might have on pre-booking FP+. The current Terms & Conditions say that MYW and AP holders will get a 60 day lead time. But there have been rumors of a quantity limitation.

There are some who are afraid that evil passholders will book Toy Story Mania for every possible day just in case they go... :)

we usually only use FP for TSM (about every other day) and soarin' (maybe twice each 11-12 day trip).
will we be branded "evil passholders", and have to change our PAPs for ones with images of maleficent, cruella, etc now? ;)

while we would probably prefer villain APs :rolleyes1, hopefully we wouldn't be penalized for having gone often enough that we only go on our favorite attractions.
interesting.....
