Ashley Madison an auspicous day

I know little to nothing about the supposed details, but I have to admit I'm more than a little skeptical that apparently the first "name" outed in this hack is Duggar. I'd like the information thoroughly vetted by a credible, impartial source before I tarred, feathered -- or subjected any innocent bystanders to any humiliation.
It's pretty easy to google this, plenty of sources. I'm not linking, because many include his "preference" list. It appears one of the billing addresses was linked to his DC home, the other to a home that belongs to his grandma.

I think the most telling thing is silence from the Duggar clan... as it was the first time around. Wait it out, hope it will magically go away.

Having registered with AM does not make one a cheater or one that will get an STD/HIV or AIDS!!! You have to actually physically be with someone to have cheated IMHO. If you do some research, you will find class action lawsuits that claim fake female profiles and up to 95% of the website are all men. Unless they are bi or gay, there has been very little CHEATING going on. This has been nothing more than the act of a terrorist group and I cannot understand how people do not condemn that!

I'll save my condemnation of terrorists groups for ISIS, PETA, and Greenpeace. I'm not going to condemn people who cheat, but if people even considering being unfaithful are exposed, I'm not going to cry for them either.

Oh he's far from the first. Apparently 4Chan started their searches looking for .gov and .edu addresses and have exposed quite a few prominent people, including many UK politicians. I'm not shocked that it did not take someone long to search for a Duggar name in the list.

I can't offer up any examples of other notable names though, I have honestly tried to avoid most of the coverage.

I did read that most of the female profiles were fake.

My thoughts, whether my husband actually cheated on me or just signed up to cheat on me, I would want to know. It's all where you draw your line, I guess.

Anyone who thinks that information posted/entered/transmitted via the Internet is safe forever is a fool. I can't believe people actually think they can do this stuff in today's day and age and get away with it.

I am really interested to know what kinds of safeguards AM used to protect their "clients." Did they use their own server? What kind of firewall did they use? Basically, how easy was it for these hackers to gain access?

Again if you hadn't put your CC on a site with liars, cheaters & thieves then you wouldn't be in this boat.

Also again I am sure the hackers thought through the repercussions if the cheaters had the same foresight.........

Sometimes people have credit card information and things like email unknowingly compromised, even by people who know them. Who's to say some of the "cheaters" exposed in this hack have never had any involvement with the website themselves, simply their information? It's naive to assume otherwise.

Also finding an address on the list does not make someone a cheater especially if someone used someone else's email to register.

If you cheat you are cheating with another dishonest person the chance of disease rise exponentially. Does everyone on AM get one know but you leave yourself thus your SO open to it.

Only flaw in using someone elses email you would have to access to it to verify registry.

Oh and Snowden hacked the email of 20-25 of his coworkers to obtain information, so hacker.

Now that is a HUGE stretch of the imagination. I steal your info & don't go shopping but sign up for AM - REALLY?

Yeah & monkeys will fly out of my butt

Greed for lack of a better word is good - should be the new AM motto
Life is too short screw you clients.

i hope all you people condemning the cheaters arent clinton fans...because he is the biggest cheater around...well, and tiger woods...lets not be hypocrites here. come on people, all you who are getting down on the cheaters, who here says about your boy bill, it doesnt matter what people do behind closed doors and between consenting adults. so who is willing to admit that they are getting down on these cheaters but giving bill clinton a pass? should hillary get a blood test?

I did not vote for Bill Clinton to be my moral advisor. I voted for him to be my president.
Why do we have to care who our politicians sleep with? As long as its between two consenting adults (or more I guess) I don't care.

We get it, you're a fan. Personal choice and all that.

Wait, questioning the validity of "evidence" makes someone a fan? I know for myself I have no horse in the race, just an instinctual question that I voiced. If he or anyone related to him speaks out right now and says, not me, I know nothing about this, how many folks are going to say okay then, my bad? At this point if you're outed you're stuck proving it.

Let's just say I had a bitter breakup 3 years back with a long-term, live-in boyfriend and I'm still burning mad after he broke it off with me to start a relationship with and now marry and have children with a coworker he'd always insisted was "just a good friend". Because we lived together for so long I might have knowledge of credit card info and email details and have the ability to do things like sign him up for this cheater site and other things to make it seem he was doing things he wasn't. Maybe I knew enough from our long-term relationship to manage to have my schemes fly along undetected until this hack exposes his "participation" in the website, leaving him to dig back through things to prove, "hey, that's not me". Sure, maybe it can be proven, but I'd imagine it's going to take some time to sort our details and have proof in hand.

I know too many people who have had credit card info compromised and/or emails hacked to take this kind of raw data dump as a smoking gun. Sure, a lot of it is exactly what it seems to be. But I'm certain there's lots of bogus stuff in there as well.

Many outlets have actually reported that a good portion of the emails may have been used without the true owner knowing. Reports say AM did not require email verification.

According to the documents I read, he may have persuaded coworkers to give him their logins and passwords by claiming them they were needed for him to do his job as a computer systems administrator -- but he did not hack their computers.
If he did, there must not be sufficient evidence because hacking is not among the crimes the government charged him with.

I'm pretty certain I did not say you were a fan. The person I replied to has multiple posts on their AM position.
If he was a victim of credit card fraud he can certainly swear out a complaint. So far, crickets.

Perhaps you might need to brace for an interesting experience. There's a whole community of people who make a challenge out of accessing information simply to see if they can -- and then look to see how they can use the info maliciously simply for their own entertainment, not larcenous intent.

For someone to have such indignation, you seem to know an awful lot about AM. You are beginning to sound like Josh Duggar with your piousness and holier-than-thou condemnation.
