It is on! And I booked a resort we have never stayed in....HRH said last night "I miss the Grand Floridian" Brian overheard and said "You like Pop too, and AKL" :rotfl: She was like "Yes, but I want to go to Hershey Park and eat lots of Chocolate instead :scared:" Love that girl of mine!

So exciting Hannah!!! Hope it all works out!

I went to Hershey Park a few years ago, but only did that "tour". Didn't get to go to the actual park. :sad1: We did buy chocolate though! I wanted a York shirt, but they either didn't have one or one that I liked. She is just like me. I would go just to eat chocolate!

I'm hoping it does too! I realized my mistake and quickly corrected it. New York can wait. WDW can't! I haven't been to WDW in January since my first trip in 2000. I am so ecstatic! :goodvibes I have to wait for my mom to get home from work so I can figure out when, how long and which resort. To start out with of course because I know it's going to change. :rotfl:

Hey Hannah!! That great news!! :cool1: Remember there will be a few of us RCers there in January too .... :) Let us know your dates you are considering ... we are going value time too ....

That is one of the big reasons I wanted to go in January, instead of December, besides crowds and price. I get the chance to see my RC family! :grouphug: I will let you lovely ladies know the minute I know what days I will be looking at. I can't believe I almost passed up a free trip to WDW if I do well and work hard in school. I'm ashamed of myself. :sad2: But it was quickly fixed and now I'm going to WDW! :cheer2:

Yes, a sign!! I do believe in fate! :flower3:

Again, a girl after my own heart!!!
:thumbsup2 You really can't go wrong with a town made of chocolate:rotfl: Looked into the Hershey hotels YIKES. Cheaper to go to WDW :rotfl2:

pas Hershey is one of those places we talked about going to but never made it there...sounds like a fun trip. My Mom use to talk about going there back in the 30's maybe when it was just the factory. I recall her saying the entire town smelled of chocolate

Still booked at the BWI in. Water view room waiting for a Fall offer for FD or a room discount but starting to think about downgrading to a Std room to make the trip cheaper. Decisions, decisions :confused3 Had a lot of extra expenses this month so the Vacation account only has $425 in it instead of $600.

:beach: First day of summer ... Stay cool and hydrated , I am in the a/c it is 83 here already at 10 am. :faint:
My A/C kicked on at 815am..100 tomorrow! Fall offer will come! If not you can always downgrade then. Hang in there!:flower3:
Nothing is ever off the table. :rotfl:

Ooooh, ooooh, I know we're all like this popcorn: for your updates and/or pics. I will not be swayed by AKL, I will not be swayed by AKL... (I keep telling myself that but I know it's not going to work out that way. ;) )

After mine own heart, HRH is! :rotfl: Has her priorities straight! :thumbsup2

Thanks you two. It's good to know that it wouldn't be too much for doing in one day. It's down to IoA or DHS now. Gotta chat to my parents to see which they'd be more up to doing. Since we're staying at AoA, we'd have to drive to IoA. We'd not have the Express thingie so I'm not sure how the lines'll be. Actually, I'm pretty clueless on all of it outside of what you guys have told me and a brief look at the website.

 Thank you Pas.
If I could choose I'd do IoA over DHS, will your DD do roller coasters? Many more thrill rides at IoA. Maybe a night at US hotel (for the express pass) before AoA...Doubt the crowds would be too bad though...

I meant it, youre a hot momma...lots of hot mommas here :grouphug:

AKL is amazing! I just know Heather will love it! She is a MK resort gal, so I look forward to her take on the transportation. When we went we did resort fun, no parks. So much to do and see...:scratchin

DD13 is "graduating" from middle school today - where did this year go? Janet, did middle school just fly by for you, too?

Kook, sorry meant to reply to this much sooner!! Middle school indeed has flown by! Can't believe Sam will be starting 9th grade in the fall, a plus for the kids is that they actually still stay in the middle school, but are in a separate area. Our school district is so large, there is no room at the HS for the 9th graders.

Congrats to your DD, assume the Algebra worked out OK? :) Sam ended up with a A- so very proud of her.

I would love to hear about your Kidani stay, Janet. Were you in a one bedroom? If you could give me a quick/mini-TR of how you felt about the room's condition, the resort, etc... I'd appreciate it! I've only stayed at AKL.

My Kidani thoughts ... don't know if I can of much help, as we stayed in a Standard Studio, 2nd floor. [We didn't mind since we rented so close out --got lucky really -- and we knew we would be on the go splitting with Universal/Disney so not hanging out in the room much.] That being said, savana view room would of been excellent but the viewing area was close by and we took advantage of that. The room was spacious for a studio and clean (well before onslaught of having 2 teenage girls residing for a week!). The bathroom large, separate door leading into the bathroom, with the sink/shower in the outer area. Here are 2 pix ....

Livingarea-1.jpg

Being on the 2nd floor was actually a good thing … as the lobby/general store was on the same level and Sanaa was just one flight down.:thumbsup2

Overall we simply loved the peacefulness of Kidani .... so pleasant in the morning hours to walk down to the small store, fill up with my diet coke and sit looking out over the savanna while everyone still slept. Here’s my favorite spot for morning respite. :goodvibes

Splitting with 2 major parks it was SO nice to come back to Kidani, where you do feel removed from all lthe hustle and bustle of Disney. :flower3:

We liked the artwork and sayings .....this near our room

And in the entrance ...

We all appreciated the parking (which is underneath the resort … nice on those hot days and typical rainy afternoons in the summer. We ended up never taking the buses, so no help there on the service. There is a shuttle that goes between Kidani and the Lodge which is a nice plus.

CMs were very friendly, and the week we arrived Sanaa began having a continental breakfast which was perfect for us. The CMS actually took my Universal bags (with plenty of chocolate frogs inside!!) with a pleasant smile, even though they did say it might MAGICALLY disappear! :rotfl2:

After realizing the maid wasn’t coming in to service our room  (forgot that little bit about renting! :upsidedow) called the front desk and they graciously provided 6 towels to us … at no charge. :cool1:

The smores in the evening were appreciated by the girls (and the adults!)

SamCarliesmores-1.jpg

We would stay again in a heartbeat and hopefully get a savannah view next time. You all will love it!!

And you will have Heather's fabulous pix and TR for info! :thumbsup2

The lobby early evening ....

Hi everyone! I got back from California late Monday night and had to do chemo yesterday, so I am finally catching up. I am in my airconditioned house and have no plans to leave until the weather breaks. I can do heat, I can do humidity but the combination is too much, especially during a chemo week :scared: But, it gives me time to catch up on the DIS! :surfweb:

sjs, stay inside and stay cool. Hopefully your DH can walk the dogs, you shouldn't venture out

mousemommy, wonderful pictures of your family! AND the necklace is gorgeous!

disneydreamin, your pictures from September are great! Brutus the Beefcake?! Too funny, especially since Lilyana is beautiful princess:

chimo2u, when are you arriving at WDW at the end of September? You have probably told me...it would be so fun to meet!

Grumpy Grandma, I laughed at the bear story. I have this vision of you with a spoon and pot trying to scare away a bear :rotfl2: Glad to see you are posting so you survived!

hstrickland, soooo sorry I missed your departure. You should be pulling in soon:drive: YAY!

Grumpy and Minnie & Nana, I am not too far behind. My older DD will be 29 next month. Where did the time go?

Jennyjinx , your three daughters are so adorable in their recital costumes. I am looking forward to meeting all of you in September!

Lillian, congratulations on your new niece!

LuvLuvLuv, have a great trip and good luck apt. hunting!

missoutandabout, wonderful pictures!

magic, your smilies are amazing!!!!!!!

Janet, so good to talk this morning! Pictures to come!

KOOK, HAPPY SUMMER! Any changes to the trip while I was away?

pas

:wave2: to anyone I missed!

Yum chocolate!

Looking forward to hearing your plans!!!!

I'm looking forward to them too! My mom texted me saying she will let me know the details after she talks to Dad. Since Dad is traveling between Oklahoma City and Miami for the NBA Finals and won't be back 'til late this week or early next week, I won't know 'til he gets back, but that doesn't mean I can't make my own plans! I'll just assume that I can only choose a Value and am going for 5 days and go from there!

Now do I want to stay in a TLM room at AoA or do I want to try ASMovies or do I want to go for nostalgia and stay at All-Star Sports? There aren't a ton of choices for Values, but it's going to be a hard choice! I hope I get a PIN and maybe I could upgrade to a Moderate! :thumbsup2

Well here I am again trying to catch up!!! The internet at the cabin is so slow that I just can't do a multi-quote and as I was reading to catch up I forgot to take notes and my poor old brain just can't remember anything! :rotfl2:

Miss sad to say I never read the book Wicked so a can't compare it to the stage play .... maybe I should put it on my summer reading list? As a child I did read the entire Oz series ... not many people even know that there were books after the Wizard of Oz. My grandmother, the English teacher, made sure that I knew about them.

Sarah glad to see that you made it back safe and sound from CA. And happy to see that you are posting so soon after your Chemo .... so that's you are handling it okay?

I'm sure you all already know but I heard that the 2013 rack rates came out. Wonder when the first of the discounts will come out? Sounds like there might be quite a few RCers making the trip to WDW in January! Almost time for ADRs! :thumbsup2

Are they only available via phone right now? I haven't seen anything. I know on-line it still only lets you book thru Dec 31st, 2012. :confused3 I am dying for the 2013 rates to come out so I can book for April!!!! :hyper:

You can book via phone 499 days in advance, but you book the highest price and the price will adjust when the new rates come out. The new rates should come out around the end of July or early August. I want to book my January trip right now, but since my parents are paying for it, I'll wait 'til the new rates come out to book. :hyper:

They were out in June last year, which was super!

Now I feel like an idiot because I can't remember what thread I read that the 2013 rack rates are out .... I need to just stay on "our" threads! I think that I probably saw it on the January 2013 discount/code thread. Maybe I was just spreading a rumor???? Sorry .....

Oh! I see. Well hopefully they will be public soon because that's the first I've heard of the rates being out now. I need to know so I can compare Values and Mods! I want to try Mods since I've only stayed at Deluxe and Value. I want to try CSR or one of the PORs. :hyper: Where are these rates!?

Oh, don't feel like an idiot! I do think that the January rates might be out...I saw that someone had booked Poly for January value season at $422/night, which obviously wouldn't be the highest rack rate for a GV room at Poly, so I do think the rates may be available by phone. I'm no math wizard, but this would equate to a 4.1% increase in rack rates...the current value rate for GV room is $405. I guess it could be worse....:scared:

Oh no! Don't feel that way! And don't be sorry! We are all very anxious! I am going through my WDW 2011 Guide Book to see what I want to do. I know I want to try new things this trip like a tour! :)

I changed my reservation from CSR to WL!!!!! So excited to stay at the Lodge for our Christmas trip. :santa: :cheer2::cool1::banana: I booked standard view, hung up and thought hmmm a courtyard view would be nice. :rotfl2:
