Deena, good luck on the interview!! :cheer2: I'm sure you will ace it!! :cool1:

Thanks!! It's at 9:30am on the phone!!

Thanks. I just got off the phone with the Dl interline office. They offer 30% off to Airline empoyees. I booked 4 nights for my sons birthday the last week of September. The rates are high there. 1286 for Sv, and thats with the discount. The concierge level was 2856.:scared1::crazy2:I can't imagine paying a extra 375.00 a night for Club level.:confused3There are a lot of super wealthy people in California so I'm not sure why it suprises me, but it does. I'm shocked. No club level at Dl for us.

My Mom took us 4 years ago we had a suite at PPH it was nice. No idea what she paid. I'm sure the prices are lower than GCH. The location of GCH is better. You can't beat a 10 minute walk from your room to TSM.

Hopefully I won't be on the Disneylands annoying person list by Sept. They only have 3 hotels. Right? How many changes can I make?

I'm going to check out your pictures.

I get pins galore for Dl. I wish I could send them to you to use. :goodvibes

I'm hoping AP discounts are at least 25%. It is mighty expensive--and DLH/GCH Club Levels are out of control. PPH wasn't so bad, but I want a new experience since we won't get back there for a while. You really can't beat walking right into DCA, or taking a quick walk down to get steak nachos at White Water Snacks--you must get the nachos.

Yep, there's only 3 hotels, but lots of views, lol. I am going with DLH Resort/Pool View--I think, lol. I saved a few vacations to try to generate a pin.

Hello RCers!

Luv, good luck with your interview! And I vote for TIW. For us, it's an easy call given the ages and eating styles of our kids. And when staying CL, we really need the flexibility in ordering. We do a ton of signatures, but don't order full meals. And I like a glass of wine or two with dinner, and the 20% of everything is really nice. So we ditched the dining plan several years ago. I say TIW!

Thanks!! I think it'll work better too!!

I agree with you on the TIW. Mine does not expire until May 31 so I'm good to go for next years trip even if I don't have the Annual Pass. Thanks for the info on GCH. I know Dl like the back of my hand, but I have only stayed on site once. I think the reason I used to dislike Dl is because we used to do the all day commando 1 day trips. Now that we have been going to WDW and stayed onsite I realize it doesn't have to be that way. You can hit rope drop, and be back at the pool in 6 hours enjoying a umbrella drink. That is more my vacation style.

The cost was about the same as Poly. It was the cost difference between a non-cl and a Cl room that was astounding. I would never pay more than 100.00 a night to upgrade to Cl much less 375.00. Wow!!!! I would have a hard time justifying that. CL at pph is a little more reasonable. I don't think the pool is that great at PPh. The newly renovated Disneyland hotel looks nice too.

I think TIW is for sure, and it'll keep flexibility on the room too!! Otherwise, I'll get locked in at 45 days.

Don't worry--I love CL, and no way in the world can I justify GCH/DLH club level! We can eat character breakfasts, buy lots of potato chips, coffee, sprite, beer, and order chocolate covered strawberries for wayyyyyyyyy less than the difference. So that's what we'll do

Pixarmom I will give you my thoughts. I'm pretty sure I'll stick with GCH. Location! Location!

Luv I hear on the Dl Cl. I forgot you have those Premium Ap's. You should get some discounts. I'm thinking of buying Disneyland Ap's and then upgrading them to the premium passes when we get to WDW in May. I think I can do this.:scratchin I figure that is the most economical way to do both parks, and I'm not committing a ton of money upfront. Dl is only a 5 hour drive so if something unexpected happens, and I cannot go to WDW next year. God forbid.:sad:I can just buzz on over to Dl anytime I want. Buying Ap's is such a big committment I'm glad it worked out for me over the last year, and it sounds like your getting good use out of yours.

So tonight I decided I'm making gift bags for my whole crew for our trip. I'm going to buy them these and a lanyard to put it on. I'll put in some snacks for the plane. What else can I put in them? I figured we can all use the lanyards and puches to hold our tickets and ID at the parks. I also want to get into pin collecting with Danimal. He wants to trade. I want to collect.

I also have a date night planned for Danimal and I. We are going to leave his sister in the very capable hands of her grandma, aunt/godmother, and cousin/nanny. We are going to have dinner together and just have a blast playing like we did before sister came into our lives. He misses our alone time together and so do I. I think he might want to do CRT but we'll see. I personally didn't enjoy it last time.

Deena, I've been wanting to get back to Disneyland since my first trip with DH/ then DBF -- in 1990! I'm really liking the look of DLH....are you sayin CL there is astronomical? I'm a CL gal at heart, it'll be hard for me to give up CL....but if it'll break the bank, I may have to rethink. Maybe I'll get back to DL in 2014 if I'm lucky!

my next trip to WDW is going to be for our big 25th anniversary in 2016

ETA: just a question for those who've stayed at the poly before.....can you see the electric light parade from the Poly beach?

Yeah.... 3 nights Paid in Full was HALF of the DEPOSIT for a monorail resort. That's a concept I've never heard of :lmao: :rotfl2:
I know right??? That's what happened when I switched my YC CL to CBR to Pop. My deposit for one night...paid in full for the trip plus a refund...

GOOD LUCK TODAY!!!!pixiedust:
pas the Poly sounds like the perfect plan :thumbsup2
Thanks....I hope DH doesn't get mad, but I think it's well worth it!

Your CM...FOR WHAT>>> do tell ;) Im glad you like my change, I hope they all like it! Pictures I am waiting too. DH is mad at me for working late..again. He said he thinks I quit the ER and work at a bar since I leave at 2am.... He is at work now, I am trying to perk up. I go in early to help, get out late, and everyone is absolutely miserable...I am not happy....4 more shifts...

If I could find a wedgie proof bathing suit. I might try slush gusher or summit plummit.:lmao:
Well if they are anything like wedgie free panties, they don't work :lmao:

I also have a date night planned for Danimal and I. We are going to leave his sister in the very capable hands of her grandma, aunt/godmother, and cousin/nanny. We are going to have dinner together and just have a blast playing like we did before sister came into our lives. He misses our alone time together and so do I. That sounds lovely. How bout a BW night just strolling and snacking?

ETA: just a question for those who've stayed at the poly before.....can you see the electric light parade from the Poly beach?
::yes:: And its lovely!

Luv ... had her call at 9:30 am .... hope its going (or went) well!!
:cool1:

:joker: Hmmmm... Yesterday WDW Dining had loads of availability for our August dates. Then late last night WDW Dining did a scheduled maintenance. Now this morning not one restaurant -- MK, Epcot or DHS -- has availability on 8/19. Hmmmmmmmm. :scratchin ...UPDATE: As of late morning all is a-ok with loads of availability again. Ahhhhhhh. :goodvibes

Happy weekend to all. :grouphug:

Hi Magic! :wave2:

Hope you got all your ADRs! :goodvibes I'm still trying to change a time on an O'hana ressie but still no luck.

Have a great weekend!:cool1:

[If I could find a wedgie proof bathing suit. I might try slush gusher or summit plummit.:lmao:

:rotfl2: Padawans ...I was so nervous I wasn't thinking too much of that! And almost backed out ... but decided to try it once, yep, got my fill... was terrified .... they tell you to keep you ankles crossed, which is very to do, and I had so much water in my face ... well, I said a silent thankful prayer when I got to the end ... :goodvibes

So tonight I decided I'm making gift bags for my whole crew for our trip. I'm going to buy them these and a lanyard to put it on. I'll put in some snacks for the plane. What else can I put in them? Dani: Great idea!! Think I will get these for my 2 nieces ... and FYI, you probably know, but we buy our trading pins on Ebay, we get a lot of pins for a great price.

Yeah for a date night with Danimal! ...:cool1:

Wednesday night, pile in the car....drive drive drive

Jacksonville Beach one night, DH to rest up...in the morning, drive to Orlando

Pas ... you are swinging by PA, right?? I'll get my own flight back!! :goodvibes

Hope it works out that your Dad can visit, that would be a treat for all!

Hang in there sweetie! ... how 'bout this plan??? If work gets too much today, ditch tomorrow's swift and meet Sarah and I for Sunday lunch ....... how does that sound??

Pixarmom, Padawans and Luv ... all your talk about DL makes me so want to visit some day ... definitely an RC trip for sure!

Beautiful day in PA today!! Everyone enjoy the weekend!!

Off to visit Motor Vehicles ... lost my driver's license so had to get a duplicate ... then tonight we plan to see The Avengers!

Ugh Motor vehicles....I'm sure better in PA than NJ :scared:

I'd love to ditch work tomorrow...but the guilt would kill me...they asked me to come in early, I declined and magically my hours changed on the schedule...WTH :crazy2: I actually asked my co-workers what would hppen if I just started freaking out and throwing stuff like the patients do :lmao:

Then later 2 nurses debated just walking out...I told them not worth losing your license...at least I'm not alone in my misery...hope it's better after some Florida magic

Janet you brought back a wonderful memory to me this am, in fact I am still smiling thinking of it. *TL was newly opened and both my DS were anxious to try out the HumungaKawowBunga(sp)?
My eldest almost fell as he went to stand up at the end and the cast member standing there said " Get your bearings young man" with this Aussie *accent. We all heard the CM's remark (DH & I) were sitting in the viewing stand and Jason had just come down the other side of the ride. Jason loved teasing his older brother about that day every time we went to TL

pasThat is awful they changed your schedule especially knowing your have a family.

Deena, have been thinking about you this morning, hope it went well! :goodvibes

I laughed about the "wedgie" bathing suit! :lmao: Wouldn't that be great! My days of thrill rides are over. My kids don't need me to go on them and frankly I would rather sit and people watch than scream my head off :scared1:

Dani, I think date night with Danimal sounds great! Kids love one on one time. What a handsome date you will have. The gift bags sounds great. You are one talented lady. First we find out you are a makeup artist, you are a TA, a party planner...we need to find you a new job that uses these talents!

pas, just get through these next few days and then relax and enjoy your wonderful vacation. :beach: You are such a gifted nurse, you should be able to find a better working situation. Janet and I knew better than to tempt you, however, should you change your mind we are meeting in the afternoon! After you return and I return from CA we are going to kidnap you and so we can get together.

I wish I was going to be in CA longer because I would love to meet Grumpy Grandma! We are flying into San Francisco on a Thursday and leaving Monday. I have to be back for chemo on Tuesday, darn.

It's a gorgeous day in NJ. We are off to a barbeque this afternoon. :cutie:

It is not a good time to be an ER nurse. I am thankful to have a job, but management takes advantage..and it's getting old...really old. I remind them that this is why no one helps when they beg :furious:

That's a wonderful memory. :lovestruc No matter what else happens in life they can't take away your memories. You are an amazing woman, keep thinking about all those family times and keep smiling. :goodvibes

YAY for kidnapping!!!! I want to find a better, healthier place. I have other offers, but I am a bit nervous as I have worked other agency jobs and the grass is rarely greener... But I am watching dear friends so burnt out, they are different people. Nursing is a roller coaster, hoping we hit bottom and are on our way up the hill..just hoping....

Your trip sounds good. Have you stayed at the Grand California at DL? I'm thinking of a 4 day trip to Dl the end of Sept. I would rather go to WDW... but I just can't swing a short trip to WDW like most people can. Dl is a 5 hour drive. We stayed at Paradise Pier 4 years ago. That was our last trip before being hit by the WDW bug. What are your thoughts on the hotels there? Do you have the link to your last TR from Dl. I would love to see it. Thanks. :)

Hello RCers!

Two quick things:

Luv, good luck with your interview! And I vote for TIW. For us, it's an easy call given the ages and eating styles of our kids. And when staying CL, we really need the flexibility in ordering. We do a ton of signatures, but don't order full meals. And I like a glass of wine or two with dinner, and the 20% of everything is really nice. So we ditched the dining plan several years ago. I say TIW!

Padawans, we're going back to DL again next year. This year, we stayed in our Newport beach house the entire time and drove to DL for the day. I don't want to do that again, and the drive in reminds me that I only want to stay on-site at DL. Two years ago, we stayed at GCH for DL and then moved over to the beach house for our week in Newport - that's the way to go. GCH reminds me a lot of WL, but with an amazing location and way higher price tag. It's my husband's very favorite Disney resort (including both DL and WDW) so I'm not sure staying elsewhere will be an option! I'd really love to try PPH (Luv's reports and photos were great!) or DLH (great pool and the new rooms look nice.)

So I have no advice - I can't decide where to stay next year - but I'll resort change that one with you!

P.S. Thanks for all the Poly CL info! We've stayed at Poly in December and January several times, and I don't miss the hot tubs, so no problem there! I'm pretty sure we'll be giving CL a try!

ETA: just a question for those who've stayed at the poly before.....can you see the electric light parade from the Poly beach?

This is just a quick post but will go back and catch up .... wanted to let everyone with a trip to DL planned that the ticket prices are going way up tomorrow!!! :scared1: Also the pass that is good for both WDW and DL is going up. Rumor is that the WDW tickets/passes will be going up again soon (first week of June????). My DD and I just bought ap in March but my DH's pass just expired so I'm buying his today. Thank goodness they have a payment plan for CA residents.

Back soon!

Sarah I would love to meet up with you! I'm only about 2 hours from SF .... :wave2:

pas, enjoy your vacation, then come back and re-evaluate. Honestly you deserve better. Life is too short to be miserable. You have an amazing gift and impressive professional skills, you can do better. You have a wonderful family, enjoy them and spoil the kids this vacation. You will be in a better place when you return to rethink your work environment. Hmm, how about this :scratchin the on call resident GF nurse?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would that suit you pixiedust:

P.S. I am a bit behind. Who all has a birthday celebration this trip? I know it's not HRH ...

Hello, RCers!

First, just wanted to send hugs to sjs and Minnie.

And GG, so sorry to hear about your daughter - relieved to know that it's not your daughter that you visit in SoCal, but really so sad to hear about this. Hope you're either in SoCal with your daughter or keeping busy at home.

OT comment for GG: We're contemplating a more extended stay in Newport next year. I used to stay two weeks out of every summer growing up and want to get back to that. We'll have plenty of time for Catalina and DL without sacrificing beach time. DL is going to be a REAL RC dilemma. I love GCH and it's my husband's favorite Disney resort of all time, but I'm really wanting to try PPH (so does middle DS) or DLH (so does oldest DS.) What to do? Plenty of time to decide (and change.)

Padawans, your report is SO helpful! I've been trying to decide whether to stay CL at Poly in January, but I think I'll just let you and Luv make that decision for me! I'm starting to waiver on our multi-split and leaning towards 1/2 Poly and 1/2 BC, but the boys are strong on the 6 resorts/6 nights. We won't be solid on the Epcot resort half for a long time, I think.

Pas, I went back a few pages and just can't keep up! I think I need to go back again!

I've really been focused on our Wonder to Alaska planning recently - less than two weeks away from on-line check-in and excursion booking (we are Silver Castaway members now!) So instead of resort changing, I'm excursion changing - always something to reconsider!

Slowly trying to catch up on this thread ... I think a two week stay in Newport Beach is perfect! Let me know where you end up staying. I keep thinking I want to try the Balboa Hotel/Inn right on the beach ... looks sort of funky. I never mind the drive from NB to DL ... if the freeways look bad we just take Beach Blvd. I love staying at the GCH but my heart belongs at the original hotel! The history, the pool, just makes me feel like I'm really at DL. Many, many years ago we stayed at what is now PPH .... but haven't been back. I think that whichever resort someone stays at is wonderful ... so nice to be able to walk everywhere ... between the resorts, DTD and the parks ... that is one thing I miss at WDW! Let me know when your vacation is and maybe I can run down there and meet up with you .... either NB or DL! :cool1:

P.S. I am a bit behind. Who all has a birthday celebration this trip? I know it's not HRH ...

I would be willing to cover the entire Monorail line...just sayin :scratchin

DD5 turning 6 on May 28th..DH on June 8th...turning 39 (still cute as ever)
Bree had a recent Bday (5/13) and MIL too (May 1st) that may be pushing it...plus my Daisy award :beach: I my go on......Life is too short you are so right :flower3:

Just wanted to pop in to say HI! to everyone!

I haven't even started to catch up on this thread, but read the last couple of pages and am in tears over some of your troubles! I am so sorry for those going thru these trials! Like Jungle Cruiser, well, I couldn't said it any better. She took the words right out of my mouth as well of my heart.

I am no longer on chemo, not for the last 2 1/2 weeks, tube out of stomach, but I landed back in hospital because of internal bleeding again. They managed to stop it, got blood replaced and I am back home ( on Tuesday.)

No matter what, we ARE GOING to WDW in JUNE~
I don't know if you ladies know this, but JC and pas keep me going, I love them both dearly!:lovestruc

And I continue to contemplate replacing our last night at the BC CL with the GF SugarLoaf.
(only RPC standard available and that's not happening right now.)

b125818d.gif
It is plain awful to have a miserable job! Especially for you because it requires a tender heart and outstanding skill. To have management treat their nurses so carelessly...well... another BIG hug, sweetie.
f809de82.gif

On the bright side - soon you'll be out of the place, on the road with your gorgeous and wonderful family (not sure about mil ;) ) and all that crap will be history....let yourself be immersed in the magic...the beach, US and of course, Poly CL. I cannot wait for the first happy text and photo!

Oh, and I just love the plans...I am such a road trip nut...wish I could go too.

Sheila, I know just what you mean how a memory comes back like that ...it is a wonderful, warm fuzzy feeling...and reminds us how close our boys are to us all the time - even now.

:cutie:

Sarah, you are such an inspiration to me. My cancer was diagnoised in Sept of 2010 and although radiation was recommended, I declined. Knowing the little I do of your journey, you inspire me to be courageous and look for the rainbow wherever we can. Every day I pray this round of chemo will be easy on you and you will be in remission for a very long time.:flower:

YAY for kidnapping!!!! I want to find a better, healthier place. Nursing is a roller coaster, hoping we hit bottom and are on our way up the hill..just hoping....

Ya know, y'all make it extremely difficult not to be totally GREEN - being able to meet for lunch...sigh...while I'm thrilled for the times you'll get together, I know I speak for many of us who wish we could all be closer. ::yes::

Just last night Janet and I were talking about an RC NYC weekend trip. It would be easy for me to fly up (my broom works well with enough notice) and I miss NY so much! Imagine - a Broadway show, a visit to Lady Liberty, fantastic food (esp Italian!)...oh, what great memories could be made.:goodvibes

Back soon!

This is one of those time I wish I had a huge bank account to do with as I please, or one of those CC's I parted with a couple of years ago. Truly, how I dislike giving Disney a penny more. :upsidedow

Sarah I would love to meet up with you! I'm only about 2 hours from SF .... :wave2:

Wouldn't that be fabulous!! :cool1:

:cool1:
One of these days I really am going to call on you to meet me at DL for a long weekend - GCH or DLH ...both work for me. DL is home and it has been far too long since I have been home for a visit.:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness....pas you would be a perfect Disney Monorail Nurse!!! Wonder if there's any money to made....just think...helping guests feel better while spending time with Mickey & Minnie. Be still my heart.:goodvibes

Happy Saturday, RCers!!
