As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

So I am booked at the GF for 6 nights in November but a theme park view at the Contemporary is really appealing. I'm in an outer building at the GF. I keep thinking staying at the Contemporary would be much more convenient & I think I'd enjoy the theme park view. Any opinions?

Sooo I may have looked to see if any rooms at yacht club instead of Beach for our upcoming stay-no discounts :-)scared1:rack rate) so no switching. Just a wee moment of second thoughts on really wanting a balcony...but I doubt we will be in room enough to use it anyway as our SWW is pretty packed...
Well, you have a 50% chance of balcony at BC. If that's your top priority, have balcony on your room request listed first. Perhaps make that your only request.

It's a personal preference, but I love GF. CR does nothing for me.

Cross your fingers for me, it looks like we may be heading back to Disney in November!!!

Mum booked OKW for the 9-16th of November today, but there's a chance we may still cancel depending on if Mum can get the time off work. Hopefully we'll get to go- OKW looks beautiful and it'll be so much fun to spend a week there during the Christmas season!!

*FINGERS CROSSED* Hope it all works out!

Happy Victoria Day!!! Enjoying the long weekend in Whistler :upsidedow

Whistler!!! I am dying to go there sometime - looks so beautiful and serene!

Balconies are great but def not worth the cost difference. As Sue said, make that your one request and *fingers crossed* it works out for you! We loved YC but would take BC in a heartbeat as well!!!

I plan on doing CR TPV one day, especially while the girls are still young. I, personally, like the convenience of walking to CR from MK but I agree the themeing leaves some to be desired. GF is so beautiful and the pools there so amazing, though. I think it really comes down to what youa re looking for - do you want to TPV? If so, I would switch... but if you want the relaxing, serene ambiance, I'd stay with GF

*~*
Hope everyone is well! Winding down to the last days of school here and the temps are really starting to climb. It feels like Florida but with no gators and plenty of bugs! Humidity is starting to kick in so I am def looking forward to the pools opening soon!

We are headed to Tokyo next month!!! So excited! Planning on doing a day at a water park/aquarium in Yokohama and three days at TDR... we will be there for the season change which I have been told happens overnight so I am hoping to see the magic! It's amazing how much cheaper tickets are here but I think a lot of that is owed to the dollar being a bit stronger than the yen (a 4 day Disney ticket is about $170)... the APs, however are craaazy (about $800). Shows you that they rely heavy on their locals v the tourists!
Also looking at trying to swing through Osaka to tour central Japan with my in-laws... maybe make a pit stop at US there - they have a WWoHP as well!!! Eager to see how it compares to Orlando and if the butterbeer tastes the same!

*HUGS* to all and I am so loving watching the trip planning. I really miss the themed resorts and the feeling of being IN the magic you get at WDW so PLEASE share details and all the good stuff!

It is when it's not a long holiday weekend!!

The location of the CR is great, but I will never stay there again. I don't think you are much further away staying at the GF. At least it's all on the monorail!

In other news, baby looks great! She dated me 12/29 as the official date, but that isn't much of a change. :) Today is DD's birthday and we're packing to head west for the Grand Canyon and to visit family for the long weekend. We leave tomorrow morning.

In trip news, we've switched back to CBR! It's only about $500 more and this way we can all stay in one room. I'm excited to stay somewhere new. It's been fun researching all that I can.

Anyway, hope everyone is well and have a fun and safe Memorial Weekend! :)

Glad your New Years/Christmas baby is looking great. And saving $500 is lovely!! Happy belated birthday to DD, have a wonderful weekend!!!

I'm joining in -sharing my resort changing tale.

It all started with a bounce back booking i made during our Christmas trip. I had hoped to booked Free Dining in August 2015, taking DD and her friend for their Grad trip. By the time Dec rolled around, the bounce back was a room only offer, which I booked: 2 rooms at ASMo.

When the Free Dining offer arrived at the end of April, I was all set to try and change to that offer. As with so may, I suffered through the issues of technical difficulties, being on hold for hours etc. By that evening, I was at ASMu Family Suite for Free dining. Not what I wanted with two teenage girls but it was doable.

I kept going back to the WDW site, trying to get two rooms at one of the values who were offering FD. Never any availability- then I thought, since we're flying with Southwest, why not check a different time frame - by one day! BAM! Found availability at POP - 2 stand pool rooms! Got the booking, changed the flight and all is right in my planning!

Until last night, when I did the inevitable: I checked the site again - and BAMx2... I found ASMu - preferred available. I called 4x and spoke to 4 different CM's. The first one took a hour and was able to make the change but I waffled and said "thank you" but wanted to check with the family. Once I did, none of the three next CM's could make it work: one couldn't see availability, two of them could only see one room.

But I knew what to do ... call back in the morning!

I called back this morning and the CM had it changed in under 5 minutes! Preferred rooms at ASMU! I couldn't be more happy!!!

I really need to stop checking that site!

I hear you! They've made it just too darn convenient for folks to play around with their reservations.

Most rooms at GF are in an outer building, so don't let that bother you.
The TPVs at CR are incredible. If you've never tried the resort, you should go! OTOH, GF is really nice and definitely "prettier".
Walking to and from CR to MK is pretty fab, and I love the vibe of the CR concourse.

Here are a couple of pics of our MK view from a couple of summers ago :yay:

johnsonet LOVE those CR pics!!! Nice to "see" you over here! I've been booked at Poly last year and this year and got scared off by the construction. Taking the Epcot resort plunge with the family this time :)

Thanks, pas130 :flower3:

Are you saying you're staying at an Epcot resort for the first time?? I don't believe it!

Regardless of how many stays, have a wonderful time with your precious family :rainbow: I know you will!

I know what you mean about the construction at PVR. I feel like so much has been done at this point that it will be fine. I'm reading good reports. But I will continue to see what impressions guests are getting and might switch out at the last minute if need be. Would give me an excuse to switch! :p The planning is (almost) my favorite part :yay:

I LOVE the planning part, I am already planning 2016 :) Technically it's not our first Epcot stay but....BCV was in 2005 and it was DH, me my DS14 was 3 and my DD10 was an infant...hence they don't remember it and it was too cold for SAB. Ashamed to admit, I had no clue you could walk or boat to Epcot and we drove LOL. So I choose to not count it :) DH and I stayed at YC CL when RPC overbooked our Deluxe King room ( I will never get over that disappointment LOL). Again it does count, but my leg was in a cast so no SAB, and the kids weren't there. So overall this is the pas clan's 1st official Epcot stay :sunny::sunny: I am so enamored by MK it is hard not to switch to CR, WL, or GF. But DH and the kids won't hear of it. I am pretty jazzed to go to BC CL I will say!!! The Poly pool is and always will be incredible, you'll have a great time. We were booked GV CL so I didn't want to chance being that close to the construction in August.

Really happy for you, pas130. I think you are going to fall in love with BC! I know I did the first time I stayed there. Walking over to World Showcase is INCREDIBLE, especially the first time you ever do it :dancer:
I've never stayed CL at BC but it sounds like it's really fabulous now that they've expanded the lounge. Have you listened to the Disunplugged podcast and their most recent WDW 7 in 7 resort review? They have an episode all about the BC from February :surfweb: Pete said the service was "impeccable" and that they gutted three guest rooms to expand the CL lounge :thumbsup2

I've got standard view booked at the Poly so I feel like I'll get my money's worth for sure this summer. TBH, I keep checking on CL availability but I'm mostly just happy to be booked in the cheapest room :jumping3: My D and niece are looking forward to being OUT of school and enjoying carefree days at WDW together :grouphug:. We are counting down the days!

Jealous of your 2016 planning!

I glad i found this board. I have swithed about 15 times since i first started the booking process about a month ago. I have gone from the YC to the BC then to CBR and it goes on and on. Then DH and DS throw a wrench into the vacation and want to have QS dining and go to universal. Needless to say ive deside that POP is our resort this time around. With all the add-ons that the boys keep wanting to do, it seems like the best opition. I think....

Haha, sounds like us. We've started at POFQ, then switched to Pop to save $$, then switched to WL/BC/back to Pop and now CBR! With not too much longer, we should stay put.

(...in theory...) ;)

Keep CBR! It's a lovely resort. Lots of beaches and the main pool's nice.

This board is comforting, I'm not as bad as I thought, some of you are much worse:rotfl2: We decided to skip Disney in 2015 and do a total universal trip ( yeah right, it always next year we all skip). So I booked universals RPR for spring break this year. Then I switched it to 1/2 RPR and 1/2 nick hotel ( i know...). Then I started reading reviews and decided to just book universals HRH. Then something came up and we had to cancel spring break all together and move yo fall, but DD and her BF( who has NEVER been to disney:scared1:) say they want Disney, and the rest of the family agrees, so we book 2 rooms at ASMO for thanksgiving and got a 20% SOG discount. But then.....free dining is rumored for our dates if we check in by the 19th, so we cancel that and book CSR with FD in two rooms, we figure is still slightly cheaper than paying for 6 people to eat. But we really wanted CBR but it wasn't available. Until.......last week so we switched to CBR water view. I am content and sure we will stay put now ( unless of course standard rooms open):rotfl:
