AS sports over movies??

This will be my first time staying on WDW property (as an adult) with my DH. The value resorts were in our price range, so we chose AS movies b/c of the theme. (I love fantasia and movies seemed to have to most Disney magic) AAA just informed us though that sports and music were running a special, and we'd get refunded some of our money if we switched, b/c AS movies weren't participating. We picked sports b/c unofficial guide to WDW said it's the best AS resort if your using Disney transportation. So, I'm wondering does sports have the same Disneyish feel to it? Or is it more focused on the sports? Any info would be great, I am such a planner, so such a change is making me feel antsy. Thank you all!

It does have some fun Disney touches around the resort with the icons but it is geared more towards Sports. However, it would be a piece of cake to go over to Movies, look around, take some fun pictures etc. And you can use the pools at either Movies or Music. This is allowed since the All Stars are sister resorts. I think to save money you made a wise choice since room wise they are identical. I enjoyed Sports a lot more than I thought I would. I found it to have more Disney touches than Music did. Not as much as movies but still quite a bit. Have fun and enjoy spending that money on something else at WDW!

Oh and getting picked up and dropped off first is very nice when using the buses.

Thank you! That helps. I wasn't sure if the transportation tip was just a rumor or not, but it's worth it, if it means we get to spend less time waiting for/on a bus. Thanks again! 3 more weeks!

The All Stars don't always share busses, but when they do, Sports is picked up first and Movies is last. So some day if you are safely seated and some of the Movies guests have to stand, you'll be loving where you are at! And do be sure and check out All Star Movies, its got a lot of fun icons. You could go over there, have lunch and just check it out. You'll have a great trip, enjoy!

Yeah, all of ASMU has been refurbed. Sports is staring and Movies other than the pool has not received its refurb yet.

I actually liked Sports better than Movies which really surprised me. We stayed in the baseball section which was quiet and absolutely adorable. The baseball pool was also really cute.

Might be a question, but if they're renovating sports while we're there, do we have to worry about construction noises or horrible fumes in the air? I have this vision of waking up to hammering and electric drills, then squeezing by men on ladders under storms of sawdust. (Not THIS dream again!)

I stayed at Music duing the rennovation and didn't hear a thing. All I saw was some tarps put up over the buildings that were being rennovated. I am pretty sure the buildings that are rennovated don't have guests put in them period. I cannot imagine Disney wanting their guests to be disturbed! Its amazing to me they keep the place so clean and well kept up. And this includes the parks, resorts, restaurants etc. You see the signs saying a refurb is happening, but mostly aren't aware of what they are doing. I wouldn't worry about it, maybe someone who has another experience will post. But other than the inconvenice at AKL this summer, I have never seen much in the way of negative experiences around a refurb. And that was a whole different thing than what Sports will be getting!

Don't rule out Music. We stayed there for the first time this year after staying at Movies and Port Orleans FQ. Movies and FQ were great and we loved them both, however our favorite now is Music. The Staff there is the best!!! We had a problem with our airline last day of trip and our flight was going to be 3 hours earlier!! We had lunch and shopping planned for that day that would now be cancelled, not to mention how upset we were about our airline cancelling our flight and not notifying us. They also put us on a connecting flight with a 3 year old. The manager saw us having a problem and really just did everything he could to help us and it wasn;t even Disney's error! We weren't going to have time to get to DTD, which I was disappointed about because my son really wanted a light saber from there and I kept telling him to wait until the last day. The manager heard me say this outloud to my husband and offered to help us get the light saber by having staff run us there by van so we wouldn't miss the magical express bus. I know my family will not forget how kind and happy they all were to help! I also observed the staff helping a women get a stain out of her shirt with some stain remover!! Their is a very light hearted, magical atmosphere there, not to mention festive and clean! I just got the feeling that nothing was a problem when it came to the guests. We are still talking about the level of service! Everything on our trip was magical, but sometimes the little details really make special. Even my kids said something to me about how nice everyone was there. To top it off, our new flight was delayed and we weren't going to make the connect flight, so we were stuck in Florida! Needless to say, my husband called All Star Music to explain the situation and they found us 2 available rooms last minute and got us on a magical express bus back to the resort. Can't wait to go back!
