As a DVC member when can you make dining reservations?

I could have sworn that i read somewhere that dining reservations can be made 180 day plus 10 days prior to check in. Is this correct or did i miss read something? I have don't a ton of reading so i could have confused things. I recall it usually being 180 days, but i didn't know if they give DVC members a little perk of being able to reserve a little earlier (the plus 10 days).

No, it's like everyone else. You can make ADR's beginning at your 180 day mark, for up to 10 days. That's where the 180+10 comes from.

Anyone can make an ADR up to 180 days from the date they wish to dine.
If you have a Disney Resort Reservation (linked to MDE), you can make up to 10 days worth of ADRs beginning at 180 days from your check-in date.

Thank you! that make much more sense.

I kind of thought everyone, even those not stay on property, could make reservations 180 days out. Wouldn't it be nice if DVC members got a little booking advantage. It wouldn't cost Disney anything and would just secures reservations for us.

We actually didn't have much difficulty getting some sort of reservations when we went for NYE a year ago. Of course the most popular places were booked up, but with a little stalking we even managed to find NYE reservations at the Garden Gill only a month out.

You have the same advantage as someone staying at any Disney resort. Off site guests have to wait until the actual 180th day before they want to dine. It's a very small advantage, but it's there.

Lately, we've found that having a DVC reservation is a disadvantage. The 180+10 rarely works when we try to use it. I just tried at 180 days prior to our July arrival, and the system would not allow me to book anything beyond day 180. This has been the case for the last year or two for us, and we have everything linked correctly. We can call member services at 180 days and they can manually book the next 10 days, but it's much easier selecting times online, takes less time, and opens before MS, which can make a difference for the more desirable ADR's. We usually can get what we want, but it's irritating that this does not work. I did send an email to member satisfaction to voice my disappointment with this issue.

This maybe down to how you are accessing dining reservations. Usually if you login through mydisneyexperience and then go straight to dining reservations you should be ok.. If you go a less direct route what you are experiencing can happen....it's happened to me. We are booking for a late July trip and have been able to do the 180 + 10 without a problem.

I always use the MDE website. The calendar will show our resort reservation dates highlighted, but when we try to make a reservation for one of the later days, we get an error message. I've even tried using the MDE app, but no luck with that, either. At this point, we are well beyond our 180+10, so I guess I won't find out if it is working until we schedule our next trip for sometime in 2017. We rarely book at the difficult to get restaurants, but since we are there for July 4th, I wanted to make sure that we did not get shut out of a couple of places for that weekend.

What was almost a more disappointing aspect of the attempt to do 180+10 earlier this month was that when I called MS and spoke with the CM, she initially told me that we could only book exactly 180 days before; not the +10. I told her she was wrong, which prompted her to confirm that I was correct by speaking with a supervisor.

Maybe my email to member satisfaction prompted them to make it work for you! (LOL...as if Disney's IT would work that quickly to remedy something -- for DVC!)

One thing I noticed was that 180 days is not the same as 6 months out on the same day. For mine, with a Dec 6 reservation, 180 days out was June 9. You can call member services to find out the exact day for 180 days in your case. I also find that I get an email from Disney on the 180th day at about 6PM. By that time, I have already made my reservations, but it is a nice reminder.

There are enough DVC Villas on-site now that members could easily fill up high-demand restaurants like Be Our Guest, Chef Mickey's Crystal Palace, etc. Or if not fill, make a serious dent in availability for the preferred dining times (lunch 12-1, dinner 5-7, etc.)

I don't think Disney will ever risk alienating the general public in that manner. Prices may be sky high for some of those meals, but there are still people who will be very upset if Disney takes steps to reduce their odds of booking a sought-after restaurant reservation.

I too had issues last year they claimed to have fixed the issue when I reported it when I called in and made my adrs
Then again the same thing this year
This time I actually got a call back they helped me get the adrs I wanted the next day I got an email from tech support saying to check my account and make sure it was working dont know what they did but it was fixed
I just hope with the update they managed to fubar that next time it works right

I didn't think I was the only one experiencing this problem. I know I have seen others on these boards mention having this issue, as well. I did get a call from one of the Member Satisfaction team members a few days after sending the e-mail, but I was not home to take the call. I never got a follow-up e-mail from anyone to indicate that the problem was resolved.

DVC owners were not the only ones experiencing this glitch. My +10 never opened last year when I booked with a package. I called in and reserved my ADRs, but had to either wait for the days to open 1 at a time or call if I wanted to make any changes. Annoying to say the least.
