if I am not staying at the resort but staying at a non-Disney resort nearby? Sorry if this has been asked...I searched the threads but did not find any recent discussion re this question. I'm sure we can visit the Green Tavern Room and restaurants but I was thinking specifically about the pool. We'll be going in Oct so I'm thinking it is not peak time, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any info.

You can only use the pool at VB if you are a guest staying at the property. Occasionally, some WDW DVC guests will make the drive to VB and occasionally, they are allowed to use the beach and pool. But just being a DVC member doesn't give you access to pools.

Even at WDW, just being a DVC member doesn't give you the right to use the pools. You must be a guest staying on points at a DVC resort to use the pool at your resort and to pool hop (as long as pool hopping isn't blacked out for holiday and other times).

I'm afraid you'll be stuck with the pool at the resort you are staying at on this trip.

If DVC DID allow members to use resort amenities outside of their point stays, they would create a market for small-contract purchases by local residents. You'd have folks living in the Orlando, Vero and HHI areas buying small DVC contracts (resale) because they could then use the pool and recreation facilities 365 days / year at no additional cost.

Think about it...if you lived in the Orlando area, wouldn't it be worth $110 per year in dues to have unlimited access to the pool and tennis courts at a resort the likes of the BoardWalk or Saratoga?

VB is not included in the Pool Hopping and DVC does not allow day use. Many other timeshares allow day use and I know of many who have bought a timeshare just for this option. DVC could not allow every member day use, it would have to be restricted in a significant way to allow this. But I think it's possible to allow day use without overcrowding the pools. You simply use the blockouts already in place for PH and require a minimum # of points, say 500 or even 1000. I can easily see DVC coming up with a benefits package for those who own larger packages.

FWIW and YMMV, but we called vero beach one time when we were staying at OKW and they said that since we were staying at OKW that night we could drive over to vero for the day. That may have just been the cm we talked to.

But that would probably be good for overcrowding issues because probably not a lot of people staying at wdw would be willing to drive over for the day.

This has been the experience of many. I do know of some that called and were told no and a few that just showed up and were turned away. I'd gestimate that about 60-70% of the posts I've seen on this topic are from people that have been successful. VB is in a unique situation but the info I postedd above are the rules as I understand them.

No - it is only for the use of guests staying on VB property!

Vero Beach Resort is very strict on their pool facilities. You must be a registered guest at that hotel, and the pool is kept locked so you cannot enter without a valid room key.

for the informed responses. We'll be at Disney Vero again in March so we'll use the pool then. It does make perfect sense that this would not be allowed. Thanks again.
