I have noticed that there are a few CM's who post on this board. As I plan to spend my retirement (in 20 yrs. or so)as one of those ladies giving out stickers on Main Street, I was wondering as a Disney employee do you lose some of the Magic that makes us all love it so much?

I guess what I am wondering is if the illusion gets lost when you can see"the man behind the curtain" ?
(I know that is The Wizard of Oz)

But figure a week or two back in Jersey would restore the magic pretty quick.

Well, the main thing is that it makes WDW feel more like home than a vacation destination. It didn't ruin the magic for me though- even seeing characters backstage. As soon as they went into the parks- they were that character. Also, as a theatre major, I *love* getting to see "the man behind the curtain." Sometimes it makes you appreciate the magic even more when you realize what goes into it.

That is good to hear AngieBelle-

I have to mention after seeing your picture, we recently saw Beauty and the Beast on B'way-the day the strike broke!! It was absolutely awesome. Now my 5 yr. old keeps asking to see TheLion King as the usher tipped her off that there is anohter show we can see.

I guess htere is enough Magic that it lasts. The characters really ARE the character not just IN character. we met Belle at the princess breakfast in Norway at EPCOT. Later that day she remembered my children. She was very convincing.

I think depending on what you did, it could.

Passing out stickers just enhances the magic for others, so I think it could stay magical.

Working at a counter service with impatient people could make me lose the magic ;)

My DH and I half jokingly talk about me becoming a CM at TDS when our youngest is in school full time. I have wondered if I would loose the Magic working there. It seems that the people who I talk to who work at our local TDS still very much have the Magic and one in perticular recognizes my girls when ever we go in and she talks Disney with them and it is just great. So it might depend on the person.

I never did. I did not find it difficult to separate work from play. Even though i knew when i went to the parks what goes on when i'm at work, i got thru it. It's like two totally different worlds when you are a guest compared to a cm. However, if i ever do return to Disney to work, i would like to have a "bigger, better" job where i work behind the scenes as a writer.;)
