I need some opinions...DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in July and I don't know where to go. We have reservations for an all-inclusive resort, SuperClub Breezes, in the Bahamas, but I think I would rather go to Aruba. If anyone has been to both or either of these places, please tell me about them. Thanks!:D

Have not been to either but HAVE been to a Sandals resort in Jamaica...the best 5 days of my life. :D

ARUBA!
That's where we spent our honeymoon. It was the best "island" vacation I've had!! :teeth:

I've been to both and I vote ARUBA!
I personally don't care for the bahamas-
service often bad and just not that special.
I'd rather go to Sanibel Island than the
Bahamas-or South Beach-or Amelia Island.
Aruba is a breezy, beachy island with
friendlier people and better hotels, on the whole.
My favorite island is St. Lucia. It's the prettiest
I've seen so far and the all inclusives there are
pretty nice; I favor Anse Chastanet though.
DH and I love the island of St. John because
of it's great snorkeling but accomodations choices
are limited there. Have a great vacation!

I've never been to either, they both sound fun. :)

Hey Sharon!

I'm actually thinking of going to the Sandals on St. Lucia next year, but I don't think that's part of Aruba. This looks really neat because not only is it tropical, but it's part of the rain forrest.

Aruba is a different climate, it's much more desert like, weather wise and scenery wise. You will probably do better with the weather there. In Nassau, you're likely to experience daily thunderstorms like in Florida, but that's unlikely in Aruba. It is always breezy there too because of the trade winds.

I believe it's a 5 hour flight as opposed to a 3 hour flight from Philly International, assuming no layover.

I do think you would enjoy both places.

I think all things being equal I would choose Aruba. The only factor that I would factor into the equation is time. It's a long way to Aruba! You have to figure that you lose a day (from D.C. it takes about 6 hours of flying time non-stop) on each side of the vacation, whereas with the Bahamas, it's a much quicker trip. My guess is you would spend alot money less in the Bahamas as well, if that's a consideration. Aruba is nice, but not cheap.

Thanks, guys! I'm really leaning towards Aruba. The two hours difference in fly time doesn't really matter, since the flight home from the Bahamas is at noon...Aruba isn't until 4pm. We aren't drinkers or big eaters...so I really don't think we will get our money's worth with an all-inclusive. The price difference is $500. The resort in Aruba is right in town...we can walk to all the fast-food places for meals, if we want. I always wanted to go to Aruba and swim in the Caribbean. Thanks, again. I'm going to call my travel agent tomorrow. :D
