i book both whispering canyon and artist point for christmas day dinner. staying at wl. i know, i know. i really need to cancel one of those sooner rather than later in order to give someone else who wants (artist point probably) to get in. it will just be me and my 17 yr-old, very young at heart daughter. i wanted a christmassy atmosphere. will whispering canyon be serving the same old picnic food that day? will the atmosphere be so country raucous (we're urban) it could be any drunk saturday night on the outskirts of dallas? will artist point be snooty quiet? what do I want, right? i dunno. i can be SO anal. opinions please.

I did not love my meal at Artist's Point this past trip, but I would still take that as a Christmas Day meal over WCC. It would be a much more 'special' occasion, and I don't think the atmosphere is all that 'snooty' at AP. I think it will be a memorable holiday meal.
And I do like WCC, but yes I think it will probably get noisy in there. It always does. :)

Yeah, I'd probably take Artist Point, too. I would imagine that they would have a much more interesting and memorable meal on Christmas than would Whispering Canyon, which will probably be standard holiday turkey dinner fare.

Plus, the lodge atmosphere of Artist Point sounds like a wonderful place to be for a Christmas dinner. Maybe it will even be decorated. That could only make it better.

I agree - stick to Artists Point for a special dinner. WC will be too crazy for you and a 17 year old. Dress up a bit and make it a special evening.

I agree with the others, AP hands down.

BTW- WL is so special at Chrsitmas, you will love it there.

I'll chime in with another AP vote. It has a perfect atmosphere for Christmas, & the food's great.

We really enjoyed WCC on our most recent VWL stay. But, for Christmas dinner? With an adult and a 17 year old? Artist Point all the way. Save WCC for some other meal.

Artist point hands down! We've been there twice our past trip and will be going back this trip.
We've been to WCC too but that was a once but never again. We didn't like the food, way to greasy for us.

Interesting replys. Our first year at WL we ate Christmas dinner at AP. Their Christmas dinner was roast duck. Next time we were there on Christmas day, we ate at the WCC. Absolutely loved it. The menu was traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings and also a side meat ( Glazed ham one year and salmon another). It was much tamer ( antics wise) on Christmas day. We ware going to WCC on Christmas day again this year, simply because we like the traditional Christmas dinner. Wherever you choose, your dinner will be memorable.

We've never eaten at Artist's but we ate at WCC last Christmas Day. They didn't do the antics and it wasn't loud at all. It was very pleasant and "homey" feeling. With the view of the tree in the lobby and the traditional dinner it was very nice! :thumbsup2

IF you could be sure there were no antics--and IF you could be sure they had food other than that regular "picnic" menu--WC might be ok.
But unless you are sure, Artist Point would easily be my choice.

I would do AP. I like WWC and hae done Christmas eve dinner but didnt sti in the main dinning room and it was real nice, i think the main room might be load and just to crazy with little kids waiting for Santa :santa:
