I know this is a rough decision, but I'm trying to decide between Artist Point and Jiko on our next trip. We ate at Jiko in '02 and it was the favorite of our trip, but I've heard nothing but wonderful things about AP and we will be staying at WL. Which would you do and why?

We LOVE Artist Point!
The food is perhaps the best in WDW, in my opinion.
The atmosphere is quiet, I consider Flying Fish (BW) noisy.
The scenery at WL is fun as well, there is a dock and a porch to sit out side on. The lobby is fun, with a fireplace as well. It makes for an all around nice evening.

I just think the food is fabulous....we talk about the cedar plank salmon all the time!

Hope this helps!

Well, if you are staying at WL, then definately AP. You won't have far to go after all the wonderful wine!

Enjoy. AP has been a favorite of ours since they opened.

BOTH!!! (Oh wait, that's not an option....) :teeth:

Since you're staying at WL, I agree with the others to do Artist Point. It really is fantastic food and they have a really good wine list, if you're into that sort of thing.

The food is a little less adventurous than Jiko, but you can more adventurous next trip :)

Hope this helps,

I have to dissent. AP was one of the worst upscale dining experiences we ever had at WDW, and Jiko has always been excellent--we've eaten there going on a dozen times and have never been disappointed.

This is a very, very difficult decision! I love Jiko, it is one of my absolute favorite WDW restaurants. However, seeing as you're staying at WL and you've never tried Artist Point, I'd go there. I'm eating at both on my upcoming trip, so maybe my reviews will also help you decide! :p

Well-I'm a big fan of Jikos, so if it were a choice between two places where you never dined, it would definately be Jikos. However--I also like AP and since you've never been there (and are at WL) I think I'd opt for that.
Swankybeth's review will be timely, that's for sure!!

We just ate at AP on our thanksgiving trip (we also stayed at WL and LOVED it!!!!!!!!), however, I really liked Jiko MUCH better. Overall, the atmosphere, food was just better. AP was bland to me. Sorry AP fans. Now, Whispering canyon I would do again and again. The food was really good and the antics were not overdone (like you see on the travel channel). We did it for dinner and breakfast and were not disappointed either time.

DH settled this one last night, he agreed to put all his change between now and the trip into a container to pay for us to do both. :teeth: :bounce: :bounce: Swankybeth, I can't wait for the reviews anyways.

We just did both last week and both were very very good but our favorite was AP. We had the salmon that everyone on the boards had raved about as well as the berry cobbler and they just couldn't be beat any where in our 11 nights of eating at WDW. Also, the waitress was very charming and we enjoyed the atmospher of the restruant. Even though it was busy it didn't seem to have the rushed atmosphere that we found at Jiko.

Well, I see you've made a decision! LOL. My dh and I got a night out without the kids at Artist Point last year....and it was wonderful! We look forward to eating there again.

We have not had the opportunity to try Jiko...but its next on my list for a dinner alone with dh. Perhaps if my sil and bil come to WDW next year we can manage it....depending on how well the baby does away from me at that point (not born yet...so I have no idea of temperament so far...).
