FFC was one of the best meals we've EVER had at Disney, but I've heard similar things about AP.

Any opinions?

We dined at Artist Point last week and LOVED it...it's now probably number 2 on our favorite restaurants in WDW (1- Bistro de Paris, 3 - Citricos)

We had an amuse bouche of the mushroom soup that was amazing...much lighter than expected. We had the crabcake and the oysters for appetizers...the oysters were out of this world! The sauce was so delicious, some of the best ever.

For entrees I had to go with the cedar plank salmon...she went with the buffalo steak...and both were worth every penny. Both cooked perfectly, with the proper amount of accompaniments. Amazing.

We had some wonderful Pinot Noir with our meal and finished off the night with a port flight each (you get 10, 20, 30 and 40 year tawny for $22!!) and shared the Apple cake thing that came with brown sugar ice cream..YUM!

To be honest, we dined at Flying Fish two years ago and swore we'd never be back. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but we were just not happy with the food and how it was prepared.

With that said, I think you can do NO wrong at Artist Point. There were so many great things on the menu, we're returning in January to try some different stuff!

Hope this helps :)

We are doing AP on our upcoming trip. We really like Flying Fish. I had the snapper and it was wonderful as was DH steak and I loved my cheese plate. The only thing we did not really care for was dessert- just nothing special and really small.

They are so different that it's hard to compare. We prefer Flying Fish because the menu appeals to us more. The service and quieter atmosphere at Artist Point is much better than that at FF.

I'm a seafood person, but I prefer Artist Point. The food at AP is just more interesting to me, and I enjoy the influence of Pacific Northwest cuisine (fresh Pacific seafood, buffalo, berries, mushrooms, some Asian influences, etc). Flying Fish's menu is good, but the food at FF doesn't wow me as often. I've been to lots of seafood restaurants that offer similar/better food at lower prices.

Wow, I am shocked that most people prefer AP. I guess I don't know what I am missing. Maybe we'll look into a reservation.

Anybody else wanna weigh in?

That is definately a hard choice we love them both. Sorry I wasn't much help Good Luck!

I like both, but I like Flying Fish more. That said, for you, I would recommend AP this time around. Try something new!

Okay, please help me choose between the salmon and the buffalo steak! I was slightly leaning toward the buffalo because I wasn't thrilled with the sound of the salmon's accompaniments. Glad to see a thumb's up on the port flight - I was planning on that as well.

I love FFC and liked AP as well - wasn't wowed by it. The food is very good, I just prefer the lively ambiance of FFC and the Boardwalk. AP is very quiet and understated. That being said, I think you should try AP just to try something new!

They are the 2 best entrees on the menu (I think, can't wait to try some others in Jan) and I agree that originally I was underwhelmed by the artichoke/carrot/zucchini combo but I do like all of them and they actually worked very well with the salmon as they let the salmon and vinaigrette stand out. The salmon was cooked so perfectly and brought out to your plate still on the cedar plank.

With that said, while the buffalo was more traditional (potatoes, veggies and the shiraz gastrique) it was a generous portion that absolutely melted in your mouth. They suggested medium rare (as they should) and it was cooked to perfection.

I think it all comes down to if you want something a little heavier (buffalo) or something a bit lighter (salmon). You can't go wrong with either of them. Oh and we each had the Solena Pinot Noir with both dishes and it paired perfectly.

As far as that port flight, they bring it out on a liquor cart and pour each in front of you. They are actually generous pours. It was interesting to taste the progression from the 10 year to the 40 year. The 40 year was definitely the best, but the 20 year was way better than the 10. What did I learn? I'll go for the best value on the menu in the future..but will definitely never go below a 20 year.

Hope you have an awesome time there!

Thanks, Scott! I just enjoyed reading your trip report. I took some notes... :drinking1

Yeah, I'm with you on Flying Fish. It's one of the best meal experiences in WDW. I like Artist Point, and I defintely need to get in there and try it again, but Flying Fish would get my vote every time.

DH and I ate at FF for the first time, last week. We had really been looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were both disappointed. It started out well and the food was good, but not great. After our entrees were served our server got lost and it was a LONG time between entree and dessert. It wasn't a terrible meal but we both agreed that no way was it worth the price. The noise level was another negative. We were in a small room out back, which I think actually shielded us from some of the noise. The next night we ate at the Turf Club and we were both happier with that whole experience, from food to service to atmosphere.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Ambience and menu are so different that I would have to say.......BOTH! Seriously, we alternate them each trip because use both are so good for such different reasons.

We go back more often to AP. I've had delicious salmon and twice there was a scallop dish on the menu that was fantastic! I do love the atmosphere at WL more that the BW, so that does influence my vote!

We've been to both many times - can't go wrong at either.

So I *think* we are going to do AP, but it might have to be a last minute decision. We have a reservation to both.

Thanks for the help. We're off!!!
