I am going on my honeymoon 9/27-10/3 and we have the romance package which entitles us a dinner at one of WDW's sit down restaurants except Victoria & Albert. We have narrowed it down to AP & YS. We are looking for opinions on which has the more romantic setting, or if there is a better restaurant choice for us. We both do not like seafood. We would appreciate any advice.

We have eaten at both and continue to return to Artist's year after year. It is a very romantic restaurant. (IMHO) As with most WDW restaurants there is something on each menu to please meat, fish and vegetarian lover alike. I suggets you go you Deb Wills site and look at the menus. This may help you better decide.

I fell in love with the steaks at Yatchsmen though! I thought they were out of this world as were the desserts. And afterwards you can walk to the World's of Epcot and stay for the Illuminations.

Also, would we be standing out if I had a suit on and she had a nice dress on at these places?

I like Yachtsman as a good (but not great) steak place, so if you are looking for a good meal, this is a good choice. However, I would prefer Artist Point. The menu is more eclectic and offers a wider range of tastes than YSH does. My DW & I dined there during our trip in May and had a wonderful meal.

If you want steak, you can get the buffalo steak at AP, but I highly recommend the cedar plank salmon. It's roasted on a cedar plank, then brought to your table still smoking. It is delightful.

Most entrees come with Yukon Gold potatoes -- very yummy and veggies. We had a Bibb lettuce wedge as an appetizer. The only challenging part of the meal was the dressing on the lettuce. It was a ranch/garlic vinegrette -- a bit heavy on the garlic.

You also must try their Artist Point Cobbler -- one serving is enough for two. It is delish!

Artists Pointe is ok. Been there twice and never been 'blown away.'

I like Yachtsmans, but for a special occasion would much prefer California Grille or Shula's.

We actually had dinner at AP for my birthday ~ 2 1/2 wks ago; food was great! However, for great food AND a very romantic atmosphere, I would recommend Jiko's (truly a wonderful dining experience in every way!). In most of the WDW restaurants, I've seen people in shorts to dressed up (I wore a dress to both restaurants; my husband wore one of the dressier shirts (Tommy Bahamas style) with a dressy pair of shorts to AP & silk slacks to Jiko's.

I've also heard great things about California Grill at the Comtemporary, & Narcoose's, & Citricos (? dress code there) at GF.

May want to look at restaurant reviews in 2 books - Walt Disney World For Couples & The Luxury Guide to WDW. Enjoy!

I have seen pics of the California Grille, and it did not seem that formal or romantic. Has anyone had a romantic dinner there? If so, how did it go and would you do the same over again?

It depends on what "romantic" means for you. It's not as intimate as Citricos, but the food is almost as good; the atmosphere is bustling, like a 4-star restaurant in Chicago or New York City; and there's more kids around. The view is outstanding.

As one previous poster said, you can have a romantic time with your hubby/boyfriend and a turkey leg from Frontierland! :)

We've done both the CG and AP. Although we LOVED the food at the CG, it is not very intimate. The tables are close together, it can be quite noisy and there is more hustle and bustle going on. Yes, the view is spectacular.

That said...we LOVE Artist Point. We've eaten there every trip for a few years now. The food is awesome, the tables are more spread out and more intimate. You can request a table overlooking the pool area. You will be fine in shorts or a suit...anything seems to go there.

If you do decide on AP...the smoked portabello mushroom soup is unbelievable...and the berry cobbler for dessert is...well....unbelievable too! We've never had a bad meal there!

Enjoy!

My husband and I have done both. We really liked YS for the steaks, although as another poster said, they were not outstanding. Artist Point definitely had a more romantic atmosphere though.

I don't think you would be out of place at all if you were dressed up.
