Article on What Not to Eat or Drink at Disney

I'll take a frozen banana over a Mickey Mediocre Bar any day. Presentation can affect the enjoyment (but rarely the flavor) when it's done individually by a skilled chef. But mass produced? It's just a way to charge a premium price for an inferior product.

I will confess, I enjoyed the frozen bananas. They are not something we can get at home, and so, they are more different than a mickey bar, which is just a shaped choc-ice

As it happens, I can get Diana's Bananas from one of my local supermarkets, so the chocolate covered bananas are no longer on my list of things I'm willing to go out of my way for at WDW.

Come to think of it, that's my new standard in response to the "must eat" mythology. I don't believe in "must-do" attractions or foods, so I'll stick with snack items that I'll walk extra to get, and other things that will get extra effort.

I agree with his opinion on Mickey bars and coffee. As for the burgers and fries, they are exactly what I expect from quick service.

I don't drink coffee. So it doesn't matter to me what kind they use or how they make it. It is all nasty, to me.

I can't eat their normal buns. Depending on where I get the burger, I might end up with one that is awful or wonderful. I can only eat the fries if they aren't fried with anything else. So that is also a hit or miss. I tend to only get burgers at table service. They are better equipped to handle my food restrictions.

Mickey bars? Eh, I can take them or leave them. I don't have a problem with corn syrup, but we often go in Dec or Jan. And an ice cream bar isn't normally on the list.

I can see where he is coming from. Food is subjective. What someone likes, someone else won't like.

Burgers are foul I few months ago I had one at the AoA food court and it was so gross it left a huge film of fat on my mouth (the few bites I had). Mickey bars are way too sweet. Fries are ok. I don;t drink coffee in the parks.

I agree about the burger and fries.

The Mickey bar is not something I ever choose. There are too many things that are much better than a standard ice cream bar.

I think the burgers are average for a theme park. I wouldn't expect Longhorn quality. I thought Mickey bars are frightful.

The fries desperately need some help. Bring on that "natural beef flavor!" Or at least some seasoning.

I don't think I've ever had a QS burger. What I anticipate they taste like is largely what was described.

I do love Mickey bars. :mickeybar

We avoid the QS hamburgers & fries.
However, due to their limited menu, I have enjoyed the kid's hamburger meal
(Not eating the bun) @ Mara @ our home resort. They serve it with couscous or fries.
The couscous would be healthier, but it's a wheat product. Since the fries come with it, I will indulge in one or two
.
.

Just to say I frequently order disney quick serve without the fries or other side dish, they don't list it that way, but they do it and you save 2 or 3 bucks.

Stephen Porter has a new article up over at wdwinfo.com on his four things he says you should never eat or drink at Walt Disney World.

1) Golly, gee whiz.
2) Pretty much my opinions/reviews for some time.
3) Sure, the Mickey Bars are NOT premium, but nostalgia and habit force me to get ONE each day at WDW.

The coffee at Kona Cafe is outstanding, as are virtually all other breakfast items. Kona is far and away my favorite restaurant for breakfast in the entire World!

This is extremely good news! I am hoping to get some to bring home and everything!

Starbucks coffee tastes like they burn the coffee beans when they roast them.

Hence the name "Charbucks". I can mostly stomach their medium coffee but in general I detest Starbucks and will avoid whenever possible. Yes, when they had the Nescafe stuff (I won't call it coffee) it was absolutely the worst tasting thing but there are not only places to get decent coffee outside of Joffrey's but the Joffrey's coffee isn't too bad either. I'd rather have any coffee (barring the thing that Nescafe called coffee but which isn't) than Starbucks unless that's my only option and then it has to be the medium with lots of cinnamon in it to make it palatable for me.

I don't get the Mickey bar thing. Tastes like any other ordinary ice cream bar to me. I'd rather have a flavoured ice cream or something else.

Their french fries are OK. Not great. I've had many better and I've had many worse at other places. I personally put them on par with McDonald's which are OK too. Not great. But OK.

He hit it right with the burgers though. DH and I shared one once. Once only.

1st off....I highly doubt any of us are expecting Gourmet Burgers now...Are we..? Is it the best, No? Does it do the job? Yes sorta. It is what it is, Sort of like the pizza down there....

Also, The same goes for the fries...I've had way better, but they do the job....I'd say they're slightly above average.:confused3

Mickey Premium bars are delicious...Nuff said.

And the NesKrappy:teeth: coffee they used to have was/is God awful:crazy2:. The new Joffrey coffee is actually very good. Waayy better than Starbucks too. But whatever we had, (Pressed coffee) over @ Sanaa, now this was Really good stuff.:coffee::thumbsup2

I'm such a huge coffee fanatic and although I like Starbucks' Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha, I don't like their drip coffee at all - too strong/bitter for me. I'm a regular Dunkin Donuts coffee fan - it's the only one we drink!! :)

Mickey bars are pretty yummy, but my favorite frozen treat in the Parks is the frozen pink lemonade. You can't find it at all of the ice cream carts, but we always look until we find them because it's a family favorite.

I'm not much of a quick-service hamburger fan, but the fries at WDW didn't really sway me one way or another. Now, if they were the crinkle fries like the ones they serve over at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, I'd be loving them! :)

In particular, while I'm not a big coffee drinker at Walt Disney World, I disagree with his assessment that everything except Starbucks there is awful. Personally, I don't like Starbucks whether I'm inside or outside WDW. I think it's overrated and way overpriced. I'd much rather have my cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee from my Keurig than a cup of coffee from Starbucks.
I agree 100% on the Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts thing, I always say I prefer DD 1000 times over starbucks

Ok, I don't drink coffee but I have to stick up for Starbucks here, because DH works for them and they're going to put our kids through college lol. The fries seem fine to me, not horrible but not memorable. And while I love a good burger QS ones do NOT qualify as such in my book!

I think the ice cream bars taste better when shaped like Mickey's head. :rolleyes1
I don't drink coffee, so I can't comment on that, and I'm not big on burgers and fries so I rarely order that. I think the only quick service burger and fries I've had was from the Riverside Mill Food Court, and I thought it was fine. (Not that I got to have much before my son stole it and polished it off...)
