Article: Activists rally against SWA over Seaworld

is that a joke? :rotfl2:
The topic is an article, this is the discussion.
If you didn't want the discussion, don't post
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

No, I am starting to find your responses a bit naive. The original post is about Southwest Airlines getting pressure from extremists. It has nothing to do with reasoning behind it or validation. Your facts are not encompassing the actual bottom line of Sea World and not using the EBITDA or the revenue after Taxes, Depreciation and Interest, which for 2012 was 77 million.

Are Dog and Cat rescues inhumane for dogs and cats? Is it OK to just let those animals back into the wild? Is a Black Bear rescue inhumane? I do not see you ranting about Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey. But if any of those had livery on Southwest, I would still fly Southwest.

Please do not use this forum to pontificate!

Okay, folks, let's take a breather here. This is a passionate topic for many on both sides of the argument. Please remember to keep the conversation civil.

So... is pie better than :cake: ?

disagreement with obvious lack of facts or incorrect facts is ignorance

Ironically, to the person who brought up the rhino, I find that situation to be acceptable. That is an animal who is going to be culled anyway, and whose culling will actually increase the fertility rate of the herd. Totally different than taking the youngest animals of a herd. That money will all go to conservation - interestingly, the amount raised by that one rhino auction ($350K) is twice what SW actually gave to conservation in 2009 ($172K) (the most recent figures I could find)

I happen to be the poster that brought up the rhino and unfortunately, you have your facts wrong.

A permit was auctioned off to hunt a endangered black rhino in the wild.

This is not a hand chosen animal. This is a wild rhino that is being sacrificed supposedly to increase awareness about how few black rhinos are left in the world. The hope was that these deep pocketed bidders would bid and then agree to not actually kill the animal. That hasn't happened.

The permit was auctioned off to a group of big game hunters. Do you think someone paying $350K would bid on a permit to hunt a sick or less than robust animal?

Endangered animals are not usually "culled".

As you have pointed out...this is a discussion and not a lecture, and even in a discussion, accuracy matters

For those of you that are taking Blackfish as Fact, you are sorely mistaken. Several of the former orca trainers that are actually in the movie, have rebuffed it. They thought the movie was going to be a celebration of Dawn's life and career, not what it turned out to be. A one sided hokey propaganda movie that even the parents of Dawn are appalled at. If you want facts, get them from both sides of the argument, and make sure that they are from reputable people, not people trying to stir the pot to make money in their pockets while pulling on the heart strings of thousands of people gullible enough to believe everything they see.

To those of you that are taking the Blackfish movie as the truth, you are sorely mistaken. Several of the trainers who were featured in the film are appalled at what the movie is. They were told that the movie would be a celebration of Dawns life and career, not a one sided propaganda tool that was edited to have you think that they have serious doubts about SeaWorld. Even Dawns parents are upset at what the movie is, and that their daughter, who loved these animals so much, she dedicated her life to them, is the forefront of an anti SeaWorld movement. The trainers have rebuffed the so called experts that you can hear throughout the movie giving their agenda riddled ideas as to what goes on behind the scenes at SW. Quit listening to one side, and saying that people are uneducated for not seeing the movie, when the movie has nothing to do with education, and everything to do with shielding the truth behind negative propaganda that is based on fairy dust.

Well said!!!! Beautiful!!!!

Now let's get back to our regularly scheduled refillable mugs. :lmao:

Is there really any mug that is not refillable ?? I mean I never use a mug then throw it away !!!

Can you get a refillable mug filled at Starbucks in the Disney parks? Obviously they would charge for it like they do at other locations but will they do it?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this question but I doubt it.

I'd never even give it a thought, unless it was DD. :coffee:
