Early entry at Epcot from AoA is our goal. Originally planned on the Skyliner but now I’m thinking could take too long/too busy that time in the morning. Should I take bus from resort instead to save time? Tia
What are your plans first thing at EPCOT? Which entrance are you looking to do? That could impact the answer. Still seems like Skyliner taking you to the International Gateway entrance would make the most sense.
I don’t recall there being a bus when the Skyliner is running….. someone can correct me if I’m wrong but in May I think my only option was Skyliner…. It moved very fast

Skyliner will be fine. The line moves extremely fast. We didn't rope drop EP during our stay, but we did do EE rope drop for DHS. I planned to be at the Skyliner by 6:45 a.m. (for 8:00 a.m. EE) but that didn't happen. We got there at about 6:58 and the line was wrapped back to Bldg. 3 in Pop Century. Based on the time stamps on my pictures that day, we were already over the parking lot at DHS at 7:16. It would take longer to get to EP, but the Skyliner is a really efficient mode of transportation. Your only other option at rope drop would be to pay for transportation (Lyft, Uber, Minnie Van, taxi, etc.).
