Arrving late, need first night dinner ideas!

DH and I are going to WDW to celebrate our anniversary in July. We'll be arriving on Thursday, July 7th. Our plane is scheduled to land at 6:30pm. I figure by the time we get off the plane, get our luggage, and check in at the Wilderness Lodge, it'll probably be around 8pm.

We don't want to do a park that night. And since we'll be in the MK area, I'm thinking that a resort restaurant would be a good idea. My first thought was to eat right there at the WL at Whispering Canyon, but I've been reading that it's very loud and hectic and not a very good choice for a first-night dinner after traveling all day. Neither of us are interested in Artist Point; we want to relax in a more casual setting that night.

I'm not ruling out WCC, but I'm wondering which of the 3 monorail resorts restaurants might be a better choice for us. Do all of the restaurants stay open late, to eat least 10pm? I don't want to have to rush or worry if our plane is delayed a bit.

Any suggestions for our first night?? Ohana? Kona? California Grill (What's the dress code there??), Grand Floridian Cafe?? The next night is our anniversary and we'll be dining at Cinderella's Royal Table.

This is the type of situation I like to order room service for but maybe because I have young kids and can't imagine being out past 9 pm - LOL!

Perhaps plan a meal out but room service might be a nice fall back. I would think a Poly restaurant or the Cali Grill so you can see the fireworks would be nice. I don't think any of those are very dressy but I haven't eaten there.

I usually recommend eating where your staying in your situation, but the Contemporary is just a short and usually pleasant boat ride away, so Cal Grill gets my vote. Or Concourse Steakhouse if you want to be a little less fancy.

Actually the two resort are so close you could walk there in five minutes if there were a path.

With the hassle that it can sometimes be to travel between resorts, my first inclination is to suggest the WCC that you mentioned above. I think that it will be quite a bit quieter at 8pm than around 6.

Another nice option, especially if the weather is nice, would be to get something at the Roaring Forks (counter service) and eat it right outside there at the tables. The courtyard area is so nice at WL that it's a great place to have a bite if the weather is nice. If the weather is less than perfect, there are plenty of tables inside.

that's what I was thinking. I also think Kona would be a great choice also. Then you could ride the Monorail

I love Artist Point...but since you're not interested:

I think WCC would be a great way to get you into the Disney mood.
O'Hana's or Kona cafe might also be nice so ou can see another resort, and ride a loop of the monorail.
