Hi! Pretty basic question but since I am a newbie--first trip as a DVC owner I have to ask...

If I arrive early, will OKW store my groceries that need to be kept in a fridge? If so, what is the best way to label your grocery bags? Just write your name with a marker on the bag? I didn't know if there was proper protocal for such a thing.

Thanks!

Haven't had to do it at OKW but have done it at VWL. We didn't label the bags, they must have tagged them or something, and believe me, we had quite a few! We checked in but room wasn't ready so we had lunch. Then decided to go for a swim but room still not ready. So they let us go in the room where they keep all the luggage/groceries to get our suits. It's a big room, the luggage is kept on shelves, and there were about 3 or 4 big refrigerated coolers (kind of like the ice cream coolers at the supermarket) where all the groceries were. It was kind of neat to go in there.

We got to enter the "big room" one time when we decided to go swimming while waiting for our room to be ready...caused me to learn yet another Disney lesson... Pack your family's swimwear, goggles, and sunblock in either a separate bag or place the bag of swim supplies in the suitcase on top of everything. I swear I dug in our suitcase for 15 minutes before finding everything we needed!!!:sad2:

Yes, OKW has a large fridge for storing perishables and also a freezer. No need to put any special marking on the bags as they will tag them and give you a claim check.

Just ask at the Bell Stand when you arrive if your villa is not yet ready.

Enjoy! :)

I just want to thank you all for this info. It will be good to know for future trips.

Can I add my two cents? Just a suggestion mind you, but I wanted to tell you about a service I used for the first time this January. It is called Garden Grocers. For $10, they will deliver your groceries to you. You go to their website. Order your groceries. (the website is designed so that it is so easy to shop and you see pictures of what you are ordering). We called them when we were ready to receive the groceries once we got our room. They were there within 20 minutes. I will never use vacation time to go grocery shopping again. The quality of the produce and meat was perfect, and the prices were good too. There were 9 of us in a Grand Villa at OKW, so we had alot of groceries. I did tip the delivery person. It was SO worth the price. Have a great trip!

I saw that grocery store feature. I didn't think it was a bad idea. You can shop online a couple of days before you arrive and they will deliver it to your room. I also suggest, as mentioned above, that if your arriving earlier than check in time, pack a totally seperate bag with a change of clothing. If you take advantage of Disney Magic Express, all your luggage gets delivered to your room. We always take a carry-on bag of shorts, swimwear and pool stuff.

We used Garden Grocer last year and it worked out pretty well. We used to stop at one of the grocery stores when we used a town car service, (prior to Magical Express ;)) When you get to your resort, just tell bell services which bags need to be refrigerated, they will usually ask anyway.
