arriving early for ME

we've got a 5 hour layover at altanta airport on saturday and have got ME booked to get to the hotel.
someone mentioned to me that i can ask at the delta desk when we get to atlanta, and its possible that i might be able to swap to an earlier flight.
will i be able to get ME earlier than my expected time? its pointless getting to MCO early if i have to wait around for hours to get ME at my original time!

There is no set bus that you are reserved on. When you get to MCO, go down to the DME counter to check in and you will be placed on the next bus to your resort. No need to notify them or anything. Make sure you use your DME luggage tags. If for some reason, they don't make the earlier flight with you, they will be delivered to your resort when they finally arrive at MCO.

we're flying from the UK and we dont get the ME tags shipped here, so not sure how this works.
from the UK boards i've heard that they will claim your luggage if you provide them with a description of the bags and the little label stubs they give you when you check in.

when i arrive in atlanta, i have to clear immigration, claim the luggage for customs, and then drop it back off again. i think i'm going to have to see if i can swap flights before i have to drop the luggage back off.
this is my first time indirect, and first time with ME. talk about making it harder on myself
