We checked in at 1:00 a.m. and were not given a discount. Your deposit goes for the first night so that would be the price you pay no matter when you show up.
no discount - I guess since the expenses are the same no matter what time you show up (still have to pay for someone to clean it, wash towels, sheets etc...)
Using that logic, anyone who parties at PI until the wee hours should get a discount.
You're still sleeping in the bed, using the water and towels, etc. Whether you arrive at noon or 3:00am, the cost to the resort is still the same, so they have no reason to offer a discount.
We often book an inexpensive room off site (near the airport) for the first night and then head to WDW the next AM bright and early the next AM if we arrive late. Priceline is a good option.
We do what SB does... there are a lot of inexpensive hotels on W IRLO BRONSON MEM HWY that are right at the W gate from $40 & ^... can try looking at places like travelocity to find them

We used our AP discount and stayed at Pop our first night last week. Our room was great, but sadly there's no discount for checking-in late. (We checked in around 1:30 a.m. with LOTS of other folks!!)
We are doing what SB is doing too. We are driving which will take about 10 hours. For the first night we are staying offsite and checking into WL the following morning. This way we don't pay $200+ just for a short night of rest.
Back in March I arrived at POP at 1:30 AM due to a delayed flight. They did not offer any discounts but I really didn't expect them to. I guess the trade-off is not having your room given away when you show up after a certain time, which is particularly useful during peak season.
We did the same thing (arriving for our anniversary at about 1am in 2003). We thought about a less expensive "crash" place, but decided that it would be easier to just be able to get up and be in the thick of things especially since it was just for a four day weekend
